ARCHIVED Gluten & Egg Free Meatloafjukie replied to AmyTopolski's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips I sometimes had trouble with meatloaf falling apart even with eggs, so no help here. I just wanted to ask about the crispy rice cereal. I've got some Erewhon Crispy Brown Rice cereal...would that work? I've always used oats and haven't tried making meatloaf since going gluten-free.

ARCHIVED What If I Already Have Permanent Damadge?jukie replied to Electra's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I have also been sick for a long time and was recently dx'd just before turning 43. What I can tell you is that even at this early stage in the healing process I am noticing changes and improvements. Yes, they may be slow in coming or even seem insignificant, but it's only going to continue getting better. Once you start the diet and the healing begins...

ARCHIVED More Snack Questionsjukie replied to cs789's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles are also gluten free! Those are the only "mainstream" cereals (other than Dora) that I know about.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I've been afraid to use my "pre-gluten-free" KitchenAid stand mixer for fear of cross contamination and even banished it to the basement. Now more than ever, I'm really, really needing it...is there any way it can be saved??? HELP PLEASE!!!

My husband has responded very well to my gluten free diet, but “only” has gluten intolerance genes so thought he didn’t have to be as careful as me…that was until his first major dose of cross contamination. His reaction was no less intense than anyone with “officially” diagnosed Celiac. On the other side of the diagnostic coin, I personally know a biop...

ARCHIVED Which Turkey's Are Gluten Free?jukie replied to CeliacStinksKLS's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Here's the reply I got from Honeysuckle...I specifically asked about gluten, casein and soy: Thank you for contacting Honeysuckle White. Our fresh and frozen whole turkeys are injected with a basting solution that contains turkey broth (turkey juice and water), salt, sodium phosphate, sugar and a natural flavoring that is an allergen free, non-dairy...

Is the Soyco sour cream really soy free and casein free? I've been doing tacos without cheese or sour cream...getting one back would be AWESOME!

ARCHIVED Help Need Make Up!jukie replied to hez's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I was so frustrated with the makeup thing I was beginning to think I'd have to go without. After noticing that a lot of people here were using Bare Minerals I checked it out, but it was just too expensive and "glowy" for me. Then I found Everyday Minerals and I AM LOVING IT!!! Mind you, I've never been one to get excited about makeup and am not particularly...

ARCHIVED Pamela's (amazing) Wheat Free Bread Mixjukie replied to Nantzie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Oh, no...I hope Amazon's not out of it! I just placed an order and it shows as "in stock". Of course, I'm still waiting for LaraBars from Amazon too...go figure

I also thought I was tolerating cheese but eliminated all dairy after testing positive for casein. Then one day I forgot to wash my hands after making a gluten-free pizza for DS and found out the hard way just how much of a problem cheese really was for me...from an accidental cross contamination It's definitely worth considering the possibility. Hope...

ARCHIVED Pamela's (amazing) Wheat Free Bread Mixjukie replied to Nantzie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Okay...now I gotta try this! So far I haven't tried making gluten-free bread but this sounds too good. Has anyone made this with egg replacer? Also, how long does it generally stay good?

ARCHIVED Glutino´s Amazing Productsjukie replied to vanesonica's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications My 9yo niece (who's a VERY picky eater) visited recently and she liked the Glutino pizza's better than the "regular" ones

Not only is this my first gluten-free Thanksgiving, but I'll be preparing/hosting for the first time in a LONG time. Anyway, the first of probably many questions is about cooking the turkey and making gravy. I've been thinking about using an electric deep fryer for the turkey, but then wouldn't have drippings for gravy. I could use a gravy mix, but...

I've had what I refer to as a "weird eye disease" since childhood. It took over two years and dozens of doctors in two states to diagnose it (sound familiar ) as Thygeson's Superficial Punctate Keratitis (or Keratopathy). One of the symptoms is photophobia. Not much is known about the cause but recent research has identified a common genetic marker...

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Doing A Total Elim Diet....gluten, Dairy, Soy Etc Freejukie replied to kimber's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Hi, Kim- So far corn is one of the few things my family hasn't eliminated, but I've been taking note of where it's hiding just in case...and it is everywhere! Anyway, another resource is allergygrocer.com. It's great because you can do an "allergen free of" product search (i.e., search for all products without gluten, soy, egg, corn for example). They...

ARCHIVED How Does Everybody Afford This Dietjukie replied to hfcny's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut Can't help with the bread recipes as I'm not really eating it yet. As for ordering in bulk, I've read here that Amazon has good prices on some things. Also, Asian markets are a great place to find rice and some other items at good prices. I'm still learning my way around this diet, but have finally realized I can find a LOT at the regular grocery store...

ARCHIVED Seattle Sorbetsjukie posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications DH recently found a new line of sorbet at the grocery store called "Seattle Sorbets". Sounds like they have some interesting flavors and some of them have wine and/or champagne in the ingredients. Has anyone heard of these and do you know if they are gluten free??? Sent an email to the company, but thought I'd check here as well. TIA!

ARCHIVED Boulder, Estes Park, Co Restaurants Neededjukie replied to ArtC's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants Okay, this thread is making me homesick Unfortunately all of my dining experience was pre-celiac, but the restaurants are (were) all great...both food *and* service. Fortunately, Boulder is an *extremely* health conscious community and that usually means more savvy staff. Also, you can't spit without hitting a Whole Foods Market, Wild Oats, or other...

ARCHIVED Seasoning A New Wok...help!jukie replied to jukie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips Went to the grocery store this morning to buy safflower oil and almost walked out empty handed. They had one "frou frou" brand that was WAY expensive, and another that had added vitamin E (in the form of soy). I did one more run up the aisle and there is was...Spectrum Naturals High Heat Safflower Oil! It's expeller pressed, specially refined for high...
