I'm wondering if GM foods are contributing or causing the leaky gut issues in many Celiacs. Google "GM Corn Allergies" and there are many interesting articles discussing the fact that Genetically Modified crops can cause allergies to previously harmless foods and cause intestinal permeability. Some researchers state that they believe Celiacs and people with compromised immune systems may be the most at risk of having such reactions from these new foods designed in laboratories.
The foods that have had their DNA actually altered in a laboratory and have parts of DNA that match dust mite DNA, shrimp DNA and some viruses/bacteria are:
GM corn, GM sugar, GM soy and some zucchini and yellow squash. GM ingredients are found in most vitamins, supplements and ingredients like "citric acid" and "ascorbic acid" (both being corn).
I'm wondering if anyone began eating GM-free about 10 years ago but still notices they have leaky gut syndrome? Anyone?
