I wrote to Stop & Shop awhile back to double-check on their store-brand juices, because Hooray for being paranoid about gluten being places it has no sane reason to be!

Anyway, replies are as follows, in case it helps anyone else:

Reply #1:

My name is Tyler Zook, the Technical Services Administrator for Clement Pappas & Co., the manufacturers of Stop & Shop juices. I am writing in response to your inquiry about gluten in our juices. We cannot make any official claims that our products are gluten free, as there is currently no FDA regulation stating what exactly constitutes gluten free and we do not specifically test for gluten levels in our products. That being said, we do not manufacture any product with or around any sources of gluten and believe all our products to be gluten free. If you have any additional questions, do not hesitate to reply to this email, or call me at the number below.

Reply #2, after I asked about "Nature's Promise" juices (which is a Stop and Shop store brand without the Stop and Shop title on it), and about how far back I can date this info:

Nature's Promise juices are also included and are believed to be gluten free, I apologize for any confusion on that front. I checked our database of inquiries, which goes back about three years, and found several other inquiries about gluten in our products, and all the responses to those inquiries are essentially the same as the response I have given you, so the information has been current for at least the last three years. I suspect it goes back further than that, but I do not have any evidence to support that suspicion. Feel free to contact me again with any other questions.

Sound safe to me! Not sure there are many juices that would have gluten.

There logically shouldn't be, no.  Stop and Shop makes some blended stuff, though, which also logically shouldn't, but I was less confident on.  Apparently sometimes gluteny ingredients, including barley, can be used to sweeten some "juice drinks"  (at least according to the about.com article I got when I googled the issue to be extra-cautious).

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
