Where To Get Tested And Other Q's.

For the past 2 weeks I've cut out a lot of gluten and dairy in my diet and have noticed symptoms of headaches, abdominal pains and bloating have decreased quite significantly. I still have an odd gluten or dairy intake but very small such as crumbed foods and sauces.

To be honest, I'm not liking the idea of a biopsy, but I'd like to go for a gene test since you don't have to be on gluten for that, but on the other hand to get a blood test, I need to be on gluten so I'm not sure if I should wait another 6 weeks to get a blood test by being on a gluten diet again... Or is my 2 weeks of cut down gluten won't make a difference?

Also, I'm having trouble finding a place to get tested for gluten. Can I just go to my local GP or does it have to be a specific specialist?

Just go to your GP. Do it quickly & maybe add a little gluten into your diet until you get it done. 30% of the population have the gene for Celiac so, just having the gene does not mean you have Celiac Disease.

Your GP should be able to order a celiac blood panel.  Search the forum for the actual tests in case your GP is not up to speed.  I don't think two weeks will make a difference, but be sure to eat gluten until you've completed all testing.

here's a list of blood tests to request:

Comprehensive Celiac Panel:

DGP iga/igg

ttg iga/igg

EMA

Total iga serum-this is a control test to make sure you make enough iga to validate the other testing

check out page 12 in this report for testing information:

I agree, do the blood tests. If you are satisified with clear results you can always skip the biopsy... I did.

I was taking medicine for sibo but it was not agreeing with my stomach at all.Was on gabapentin but it amps me up.I was taking in morning because it wasn't allowing me to sleep. This has always been an issue with medicine and me.Even going to dentist, the good shot that numbs you once, I can't take because it makes my heart beat fast and I  get the shakes.I have to take the crappy stuff and get injected always more than 4 times always. Its infuriating

I showed one doctor I went to once because completely clueless of celiac disease and yes that one was connected to a well known hospital and she said oh thats just a bunch of people that think they are celiac coming together. I said um no they have doctors and knowledge behind what is being written. So bay area is Downplaying this site! SADLY

If you successfully digest gluten with enzyme supplements so it won’t give you side effects, your challenge won’t be worthwhile because the digested fragments of gluten also won’t stimulate antibody production or cause intestinal damage.

You can search this site for prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance" and click it, and then look at "Inactive Ingredients," as any gluten ingredients would likely appear there, rather than in the Active Ingredients area. https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/
