Blood Test Result

I admit I am a TOTAL newbie to this so thank you in advance for your patience! :) I am confirmed Hasimoto and my dr ordered a Celiac panel test which consists of tTH and Iga.  My Iga came out today at 282 (range is 70-310). The tTH is not yet in.  What the heck does this IGA test mean/do? It looks like it is in the higher normal range - so is that a good sign?  Googled all over the place and could not find anything definitive. Seems like the Iga is a confirmation only of whether there could be a false negative result to be on the look out for? Not expecting tTH back till next week so I am anxious. Not sure of these symptoms are Hashimoto still or celiacs. B12 (and Vit D) levels initially were 18 with the normal range STARTING at 32 (no odd diet to substantiate why it is so low). Started on shots and feeling a bit better. 50000/wk D Vit.

Any insight you have would really be appreciated. Waiting is a very hard thing to do!

Welcome!

The Total Serum IgA is simply a control test to assure that you have enough IgA to assure the IgA based celiac antibody tests are as accurate as possible.  Let us know when you get your other results...many of us can answer testing questions.

Yes, malabsorption of nutrients can be caused by Celiac Disease.

Hashimoto's is strongly linked with Celiac Disease.

Patience is tough...but do wait to remove gluten until you receive your blood results as more testing may be necessary -- it is important to keep ingesting gluten until all celiac testing is complete.

Hang in there :)

Thank you so much for responding! The way you explain it makes since now. I do appreciate it. Fingers crossed for clear tth.

what is "tTH"?

what is "tTH"?

My thought was it is typo of tTG?

If not, let us know :)

These antibody tests are indeed negative for Celiac Disease.  We're you ingesting gluten daily when they were run?

How long have you been diagnosed with Hashimoto's?

In your first post you mentioned symptoms - if you list your symptoms, we have several members very knowledgeable on thyroid issues.

Hang in there :)

When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.

Was the card itself lost or just the record or both?

We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
