Waiting On Biopsy Results...how Long?

I had my endoscopy/biopsy yesterday. Visual findings were for "mildly scalloped mucosa" and a small hiatal hernia were present.

Awaiting biopsy results. Wondering how long it can take to get those back? Anyone have other info they can share while I wait for a solid conclusion?

It can take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks to get the results. It depends on how busy the Pathology dept is , vacations, etc.

Hi - welcome!

I had mine done on the 30th (2 weeks, still waiting! First I was told 8-14 days. Then, when I called to ask a few questions, they told me up to 4 weeks! Hard to believe.

Let us know how it goes!

When I was DX I was sort of doom and gloom a bit but also happy that I knew what the issue was. After a few days I was pretty much back to normal (mentally) but gluten-free.

I put on over 12kg by eating protein with every meal, 3 to 5 times a day. Eggs, Chicken, Tuna, Turkey etc. I stay away from too much red meat as it can be inflammatory. Scott is correct. I've come across a bunch of Coeliac PT's on Tiktok and Instagram. They all say the same thing, the key is getting enough protein and consistency.

It's great to hear that eliminating gluten has helped alleviate symptoms like eye burning, which is a significant and positive change. The first and most important step is to ensure you're consuming enough protein throughout the day to support muscle repair and growth, which can be challenging with a busy schedule. Since you're already physically active at work, adding focused strength training just 2-3 times per week can make a major difference. Bodyweight exercises like squats, push-ups (modified if needed), and lunges, or using resistance bands at home, are excellent, efficient places to start. Remember, consistency with these short sessions and prioritizing post-workout recovery, including good sleep and hydration, are just as crucial as the workouts themselves. It's a smart, gradual process at any age.

Trader Joe's carries a good variety of affordable gluten-free foods like bagels, hamburger buns, pasta, etc. I like Franz Gluten Free bread, which is available at my local Costco. Food For Life and Little Northern Bakehouse (advertisers here) also make excellent gluten-free breads. Costco also sells gluten-free pizzas, crackers, gravy, etc.
