Gluten-Free Mistakes And Yeast Inf?

This is primarily a women's health question so if you find this topic too personal, you've been warned!   :)  HOWEVER, I sincerely hope by posting that a lot of these issues come to light, as I don't want to be out of commission forever with gut issues that effect my other organs.  I have had chronic UTI's, yeast infection, and overall skin irritation in my sensitive nether parts and I can't fix it.  Showers and epsom salt baths DO help!  But I can't shower after every BM if it happens at work or elsewhere.

My GI history is down at my signature line.

So I have a lengthy history with bowel dysfunction of 10+ years, due to probably having a misdiagnosis in my past.  Then after my or after Dx, I know I spent a few months making mistakes with food (whether it was not seeing that MSG on the label or not using a clean knife, or trusting restaurants to inform staff and do as requested, etc.).  After a gluten mistake, I get nasty diarrhea and it will later cause extreme pain and discomfort on my skin areas (I wouldn't say a rash).  In general, I take probiotics and cranberry/D-Mannose supplement daily but I do have diarrhea caused by anything, including wine/beer/spicy foods, etc. etc.  I am really fragile as far as flora and fauna anyway.  Eventually, havoc ensues with delicate skin and the urethra/vagina.  I TOLD YOU this was personal :P  If you are still reading this hopefully you can help and do not judge me for my condition!!!

After my dx, I explained some of my IBS symptoms were probably going to get fixed the more I could go gluten-free, but nevertheless I still had a flare up with insane skin tenderness and irritation to the  point where I sought help with my urologist.  The urology nurse practictioner said that diarrhea can be a HUGE problem for UTI, until I had that part of my gluten-free diet regulated, I was just at risk to get chronic UTI.  He said UTI will be caused by the e. coli hanging about (and I get strep Beta infections also).  I NEVER KNEW THIS!  Oh dear, for so many years of chronic "IBS" and then UTI and yeast, they were all related to my celiac diagnosis!!!!!

I.e., gluten in, diarrhea to occur for like 3 or 4 days, then a UTI and then the yeast infection after the UTI drug therapy.

So what I'm dying to know:

1)  has anyone --I'm thinking women here but I'll be open to hearing from males too -- experienced urology or yeast issues because of gluten causing bowel dysfunction?

2)  when does it stop?  This is ridiculous!

Thank you!

I am a little confused - are you diagnosed as a Celiac or not. It's a bit unclear to me on the signature. Sounds like you had a negative biopsy? Negative for Celiac genes? Not sure what a " self- antibody is"? That's not important to the question -

Obviously, diarrhea can get germs into your urinary tract and other parts in that general direction. That is true for Celiac related diarrhea or diarrhea for whatever reason you have it. Diarrhea is just " dirty" and germy.

If you still suffer with chronic diarrhea, you are most likely experiencing CC or a completely different issue aside from Celiac. I am also not certain from your sig if you are Celiac or not.  And MSG does not contain gluten.  Are you sure you completely understand Celiac Disease?  Or do you have other Intolerances that have nothing to do with Gluten?

From this post and your previous posts, I'm not really understanding what you may be having issues with and what you are trying to connect to what issue.  I hope we can you but I am a bit confused as to what you may need or want.

10/13 Hospitalized for GI bleeding --

10/13 Flunked serology (badly, like 500x over normal for self antibody) --

11/13 failed visual endoscopy but passed serology (WTF) started eating gluten-free--

12/13 flunked Genetics and got Dx --

04/14 flunked serology by 50% over limit, and got a talking to by the Doc saying I need to stop cross-contamination!"

Ms Q -

Sorry but.... Looks like you don't have Celiac genes - so maybe NCGS? Not sure. "Flunked " is confusing as it is usually negative or positive on blood work. Also, looks like you didn't have any Celiac blood work? Maybe you should get that done before you get too far into the gluten-free diet? Find out what is causing the nasty diarrhea ?

notme Experienced

1)  no.

mom said to wipe front to back :)  hope this helps :)

By "flunked" serology, do you mean that your antibodies were way higher than a normal person's would be?

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
