Why Do I Bother!

I don't know why I bother to attempt to eat out. The boyfriend is very supportive of the gluten-free lifestyle, he even has a gluten sensitivity of some sort, but far less sensitive than myself. We went grocery shopping and since we were expecting friends over shortly after we got home, we stopped for lunch at Sonic. He got a banana milkshake and chilli cheese tots. I just got cheese tots. We looked online but we were having trouble finding info on allergies. The cheese looked a lot like melted american, I know because Ive made cheese fries like that 1,000 times! Lol i know how every cheese looks, feels and tastes. Melted or not. I also had the tiniest sip of his shake. Then we got home and about 3 hours go by and suddenly my face was flush and I was so tired I couldn't keep my eyes open. Apparently I've been slurring my words too. So I took my temp and sure enough, I was running a temp of about 99.8. A very low grade fever but a sure sign of something be battled in my body. Oh and the tummy rumbles, they seem to be much more tame compared to when used to eat real bread and pastas. I can't believe this is how I lived my life for so long. That can't be living. I sat down and fell asleep twice! what the heck!

I hope it passes soon. How long does it usually take to pass. I think last time my grandma poisoned me on easter, it took about 3 days to feel better.

Per Sonics website:

*** FRYER OIL MAY COME IN CONTACT WITH ITEMS CONTAINING MILK, EGG, FISH, SHELLFISH, SOY, WHEAT AND GLUTEN BECAUSE FRIED ITEMS ARE NOT ALWAYS FRIED IN DESIGNATED

STATIONS.

Ok. You are going to need to use some common sense here. You've got temporary summer employees, you've got a lot of gluten around, you've got a lot of fried things that are battered in flour....... I don't even see how that could even be gluten free. The ingredients wouldn't even matter.

You are going to have to keep a little snack with you always so you are not tempted to eat gluten when you are hungry.

Sonic definitely fries everything in a shared fryer with breaded items, and they have a lot of tantalizing breaded and fried items.  You definitely got very very badly CC'd there.  Check out their website and click on our food, then allergen info, brings up this:  Open Original Shared Link

Their Chili is listed as containing wheat and gluten, as well.  A lot of chili without beans has gluten containing ingredients to thicken it up, so always view it as suspect.

If you want to make your own chili cheese tots or fries at home, you can use ore ida potato products, hormel chili with beans (will say gluten-free on the back), and a cheese of your choice.  Then you can make a giant serving of it and eat it all, and get sick from eating too much instead of the gluten! :)

Edit: Also, sonic makes cream pie and oreo shakes, if you consume one of their shakes you have to ask them to clean the stirry thingy well.  I have a friend of a friend who worked there for a while and had him do it for me once or twice, but remember you are putting your health directly in the hand of kids at their summer job, so beware.

Edit: Hormel chili without beans contains gluten, I clarified which for you after reading this through.

I only eat my homemade chilli because I don't eat beef and no one makes a better Turkey chilli. I smoosh a few beans to thicken it. I will know better next time. When I worked in a fast food place like 10 years ago, we never fried fries in the same fryer as breaded items. Merely because the breaded items made the oil dark and made it so fries came out dark, so the two never were fried together! Apparently that l level of common sense does not apply to other chains.

I have eaten the Asian chicken salad at Wendy's with no problems (breaded items have no business on a grill and buns are toasted in a commercial toaster.)

No, Life Extension contains Benfotiamine and Thiamine Hydrochloride. Objective Nutrients Thiamax contains TTFD.     I take both of these and a B Complex.

what Benfotiamine should I take as Life Extension contains both Ben and TTFD.
    • knitty kitty
I take both Benfotiamine and TTFD.   You might want to start with the Benfotiamine for a few days and then add in the TTFD.   You can look for NeuroMag (Magnesium Threonate).  A magnesium glycinate is fine, too.  Doctor's Best is a good brand.  Don't take more than 300mg total per day of magnesium or it may have a laxative effect.   Be sure to take the B Complex.  The Benfotiamine and TTFD will need the other B vitamins.

Life Extension Benfotiamine with Thiamine has 100MG of Ben and 25 of Thia..... Do you think this is the one I should take or Objective Nutrients Thiamax (TTFD) which has 100MG Thiamine. How much magnesium should I look for? I take the womens 50+ multivitamin since consumerlabs stated and tested that it has the right amount of vitamins and not too much for men and doesn't have BHT which has shown to cause liver cancer in animals. I was never big with multivitamins as well as doctors I just read when I was first going gluten free to take a multi but I think I will stop them and work on trying the super B Thia and Ben, Mag.

Hi all I’ve been celiac for 4 years now, I’ve done pretty well to avoid it thus far. Last night I took the wrong pizza out of the freezer and ate the whole lot!! The non gluten and gluten pizza boxes are both very similar.   2 hours later I was throwing up violently on my hands and knees over the loo.  .horrendous stomach pains,  My hair was wet from sweat every part of my body was wet. What an awful experience, just had a bad headache today  fortunately.    Is their any products/pills anyone takes if they have realised they have just been glutened to make the symptoms a little less worse.  thanks
