My husband recently found out he is casein intolerant in addition to having celiac and I have been trying to go thru everything the past few days and figure out what else has to be eliminated from his diet. I emailed a few companies about the gluten-free & c/f status and thought I would share them in case anyone is else is interested. I will post the others as I get them back.

The 2 I'm posting now are from Bush's Baked Beans & Con Aga Foods.

Dear Jennifer,

Thank you for contacting us.

The following ConAgra Foods products do not include gluten from wheat,

barley, rye or oats as ingredients, either listed specifically on the

label nor in spices or flavorings. In addition, these products have

tested negative for gluten at less than 5 parts per million (ppm) using

standard industry testing methodology (R-Biopharm AG Rida Quick Gliadin

R7003 immunochromatographic test). ConAgra Foods lists major allergens,

including wheat, prominently on all product labels. As product

formulations do occasionally change, always check product labels.

I just thought it was difficult looking for gluten but looking for gluten & casein is a nightmare. I have great sympathy for those of you with multiple intolerance and allergies.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
