Still Bloated On Gluten-Free Diet

I still get bloated like I am pregnant while on a gluten-free diet. This is the only thing I had time to eat today since I was on the run all day:

-Taco Bell Cantina Bowl (chicken option). It includes marinated chicken, rice, romaine lettuce, guacamole, pico de gallo, avocado ranch dressing, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and black beans.

- Taco Bell nachos with nacho cheese

- Coke

- Lots of water

I thought the Cantina Bowl was made especially for those on a gluten-free diet?

I don't think there is much that a Celiac can eat at Taco Bell - if the people at Taco Bell understood celiac. But the chances of cc are so high. And have you checked TB's website to see if those things are actually gluten-free?

Firstly, overall, taco bell is not going to be the kind of place where a Celiac can safely eat and avoid CC.  I would avoid eating there.

Nachos on that list are shown as prepared in common equipment.  It may be the chips are fried in the same oil as their gluten containing items, which would make them definitely not gluten free.  Any items are going to be prepared on their small, busy prep line.  I am not aware of any information that the cantina bowls were made especially for those on a gluten free diet, let alone Celiacs.  They would have to make a lot of changes in the restaurants to make that happen safely.

I read how someone with celiac disease was invited by Taco Bell to try or test the new Cantina bowl when it first came out.

I do not remember if it was McDonalds or Burger King. I read that the breakfast sausage was gluten free. One day I only ordered a breakfast sausage. I had a long, car trip and the worst abdominal pain of my life. It was horrible since I had to keep driving or could not lie down. Because I experienced this abdominal pain, I assume I was glutened. However, I did not feel pain after I ate the food at Taco Bell. It might be important that I did not always feel pain every day after I ate gluten foods before my celiac diagnosis.

I am sure it is possible for the cantina bowl with its gluten-free ingredients, to be prepared safely if the time and care was put in to it.  But the ability to be prepared safely in a standard taco bell kitchen... that is where the CC happens.  Same thing applies with the sausage thing.  While it is naturally gluten-free, they are probably using the utensils and their hands to make sausage biscuits and such, and because their kitchens are not set up to separate that ingredient to be gluten-free, CC happens.  There have been a lot of discussions here about safe eating when out of the house, feel free to use the search function and browse.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
