Hi there...I have recently purchased online the new moisturizing lotion from Clinique.  I found the link below, from what I can gather it appears that Clinique have introduced Barley into their new product...I cannot believe that they would do that and yet it looks to be correct...what are your thoughts please?

I am glad it is clearly labeled with (barley).  I will not use this product because of the cross contamination.  Not like a person would intentionally eat a face cream; but dipping your fingers into what is basically poison to us and expect to stay healthy!!?

No way would I use this product. It is bound to get in my mouth!

I use Cerave that can be found at Target for my lotions (thanks KarenG for the recommendation!). One of their facial lotions acts as a sunscreen as well. I use a lot of coconut oil too and it actually gets absorbed into the skin. I like the smell reminds me of the beach!

I wouldn't use it on my face- I always get my lotion on my lips - Yum...

I cannot comprehend the logic behind changing Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion.

By introducing Barley into the mix they have effectively cut their sales "Dramatically"

I cannot help but wonder why, why it was necessary, and why they even thought it was a good idea to change something that works, and has worked well for years!!    I do believe this will stop many people that have purchased this product in the past, myself included.   I recently noticed that after I had applied the cream my eyes would start to water, and my nose itched, which is why I decided to take a closer look at this cream.

I wonder does this make me one of those people that are really sensitive to Gluten then?

It could well be a new intolerance developing.  Does your diet incorporate pure oats i.e. those safe for coeliac consumption?  I find I can only tolerate a certain amount, same goes for dairy in fact, then I start to get gastric symptoms.   Or have you started consuming a new type of gluten-free bread, or more gluten-free bread than normal, that might contain oats?  I remember reading a post on this forum from a woman who had started to eat a lot of loaves made with oat flour and her coeliac symptoms kicked off again.  I am sure you know this, but some coeliacs cannot tolerate pure oats.

I eat a lot of dairy but its intermittent is this burning so I would assume it would happen all the time. Plus I have been tested for lactose intolerance  etc and I am fine and the other symptoms of that I don't get. As a aside  my dad died last month after a long illness so I wonder if the stress of that might be a influence as a bodily reaction to stress.

You should be fine.  You may start feeling better within a few days.  Someone who is very low in thiamine may notice improvement within hours.   Did you get the NeuroMag  or another magnesium supplement?
