I am having my first PMS since going gluten-free and my headaches are really bad. I have had MUCH LESS stomach and abdominal pain, but the headaches are really bad. Anyone else have different PMS after going gluten-free? Any ideas or tips? Maybe since I used to have headaches all the time and now I don't, these seem so bad, but I am just wondering if I am the only one who had different PMS......

I can't say mine is worse but before I went totally gluten-free I noticed I started getting what I refer to as Post-menstrual Syndrome, in addition to the common Pre-menstrual syndrome. This has continued since going totally gluten-free earlier this year. Basically it consists of bad GI symptoms similar to a glutening, and lasts for a few days at least. I've tried changing my diet around and during my period to very safe foods, but it doesn't seem to matter. It's very frustrating, because overall I feel much better on the gluten-free diet but every month like clockwork I have this setback. I'm experiencing this wonderful condition right now, as a matter of a fact. :(

I guess I'm totally the opposite. I never expereinced pms until I became symptomatic. Then for that whole 3 years I had it BAD. I dreaded it every month. Since the day I went off gluten I havent had pms again...knock on wood.

Thanks for the posts....I asked that question at the beginning of my "week" and now I am at the end and things are odd, but much better than they were before going gluten-free. I have read on other posts and in books that the absorbtion rate changes so much when you are healing, so I think that my pill might need to be changed. I made an appointment with the GYN for thursday, so I will ask her about the patch or the ring..... I am so overwhelmed with all of the changes!!!!!!!

I seem to cramp more and feel worse than before going gluten-free...I wonder why...

I get more cramping and the cramps are more painful than pre gluten-free. It may be my age-49- but I don't think so.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

This is an older article, but may be helpful.

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
