I heard about this recently somewhere, but can't recall where....interesting b/c it makes you question what it means to be human when our bodies are made up of organisms that are not our own. Anyone ever heard of the selfish gene idea (Dawkins)? Kind of brings that to mind too - that we are just vessicles operating under the influence of genes........... I post these not to start an argument, but like Claire, to consider interesting ideas.....

Wow! Really interesting!! Thanks for putting that up :)

I just bought a bottle with "guaranteed" 35 billion CFU's (organisms - bacteria). I'm taking two at a time twice a day. I wonder if it will even make a dent :rolleyes:

I wish my gut bugs were the kind that would be *beneficial* :angry:

      Shingles - Could It Be Related to Gluten/ Celiac

      Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.

      Oh my......will the danger never end? It has seemed like no matter what we do or have done the odds were/are against us. Next they'll tell us that just looking at wheat will be dangerous. Oh well....hang in there.

      Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute.
