Was wondering which brand of ice cream everyone eats. Or even popsicles.  Looking specifically for a nice Carton of ice cream by a good safe company.

I use Wink personally but I can not have sugar or dairy eithers....I also make my own. BUT here is something I prepared a month or so ago with listings of brands, allergens, and facilities.

I eat Dreyers (Edies) classic vanilla slow churned.

Does anyone know if breyers gluten free flavors are safe for celiac?

I eat Edy's popsicles and the slow churned ice cream.  Haagen - Dasz also labels well, so I eat many flavors of HD.

I have issues with gluten, but also corn and soy. I have found that some of the Haagen Dazs flavors don't have any corn or soy. You can look at their website and it gives ingredients for every single one of their flavors. Sadly, I have not been able to find any popsicles or Italian ices that don't have corn syrup or some other ingredient in them I can't have.

I’ve always liked Talenti. Vanilla caramel swirl and sicilian pistachio are my favorite. Ben and Jerrys has a few good ones too.

I just got my Nima and tested it on Talenti but haven’t gone back and tested a Ben and Jerrys flavor yet.

Breyers has been great for me, Talenti was one of my favorites before I found out I was allergic to wheat. Haven't tried any of their flavors yet, but their website lists a ton of delicious gluten free flavors. :)

Yes!  Just look for the green gluten free symbol on their cartons.  Not all Breyers is gluten free.  Those that contain gluten or might be cross contaminated are made on a different manufacturing line/location.

@Healthforme, No prescription needed for thiamine hydrochloride, Benfotiamine, and TTFD (Tetrahydrofurfuryl Disulfide).  They are available over the counter.   Thiamine Mononitrate is not recommended because the body doesn't absorb or utilize it well.

HLA-DQ2 is NOT a continuum 2.01 to 2.99, but I don’t understand HLA genetics well enough to explain it further.  It is not just one gene that is either this or that.
    • trents
Okay, I'm taking a guess here. We are used to hearing in layman terms that having either the HLA-DQ2 or the HLA-DQ8 gene, either heterozygous or homozygous, presents the possibility of developing active celiac disease. So, I'm guessing that the HLA-DQ2 gene is actually a range of variants (2.01-2.99) with HLA-DQ 2.5 being in the centerpiece of the range. I'm also guessing that "permissive" is equivalent to "possessing the possibility" to develop active celiac disease and does not address the issue of hetero vs. homozygus per se. But the fact that 2.01,2.01 is a couplet may indicated homozygousity? All wild guesses.

I received the results that my child has the genes for celiac disease (she is still undergoing testing and it has been complicated). Can someone explain if this is homozygous HLA DQ 2.5 or not? The interpretation just says permissive for celiac disease. Thank you! DQ Alpha 1  05:01, 5 DQ Beta 1 02:01, 02:01 DQ serologic equivalent 2,2
