Mushroom Brand

Anyone here react to some mushrooms, but not to others?  I was wondering if anyone knows of a safe brand of mushrooms (fresh or canned, preferably fresh) that you seem to do well with?  Or any store brands?  I have had mushrooms at times and been okay, but other times had some issues.  I don't know for certain it was the mushrooms. Maybe something else caused the problem, but it seems mushrooms are at least worth considering.  From now on I will write down the brand I use and then journal my reaction to them. But since I am getting over being glutened, I do not dare try any right now unless I find a recommended brand that people seem safe with. What a terrible shame that such a healthy food that is naturally gluten-free is often grown in gluten. :( I have heard that the mushrooms do not absorb the gluten while growing, but surely microscopic crumbs of gluten could easily get tucked into the under part of the mushroom?  I wish I had my grandfather teach me how to pick wild mushrooms before he passed away. Although that was only a seasonal thing he did so wouldn't help much the rest of the year.  Why do so many companies have to use gluten? I hate gluten!!!!!! It ruins everything.  (Sorry, having a bad day.)

I have been fine with Polar Canned mushrooms, we have 2 local farmers here...they told me they use various seeds sprayed with teh spores to grow. I think I did a post with the exact information a few years back but think they were using barley to grow the mushrooms from. Some even use compost with wheat to grow them in.

OH on polar...they are in a liquid in the can...if you have a nima, test a tiny bit of the mushroom with a few drops of the canned liquid if any CC is present then it will catch it. PERFECT. I found this one company that sells #10 5lb cans of mushrooms been debating this trick with a can of them and freezing it in portions.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
