Jif Peanut Butter

Do any of you super sensitives react to peanut butter?  I've been eating Jif Naturals PB for last 2 weeks or so. It seems like it may be making my nerve pain worse.  My C has been better though since I've been eating it again---go figure:D  I eat paleo diet and don't eat hardly any certified Gluten-Free products because it seems like I react to even 20 or 10 ppm.  Just wondering if this happens to anyone else?  Is there any brand that is not at risk for CC?  Thanks!

Well, Jiff is supposed to be on the safe list. I get vomiting with peanuts, or even peanut oil traces. PS Peanut butter is not paleo. Try using almond butter (Barney Butter is gluten-free certified) or using SunButter and see how it changes.

Hey Ennis.  I realize that unfortunately PB is not paleo :(  And I love almond butter but is more expensive so don't buy it all the time.  Good to know that jiff is supposed to be safe, but other things have gotten me before (that's supposed to be safe) so it's hard to trust anything.

Well good luck, I started trying to make my own years ago. Started with buying a new meat grinder and modifying the plates, and then smoothing the paste with a food processor.  I then invested in large granite stone mill and mill and make artisan butter to sell to people lol. Funny I make almond butter that is sugar free but taste like cheesecake, cinnamon roll, butter rum, banana, cookies & cream, pumpkin pie, peanut butter, pralines & cream, and my own custom blend. I do these with spices and extracts....I LOVED peanut butter before those reactions so I made the almond butter thing into a hobby. I live off the stuff, if you want I can get you a discount bulk code with my almond distributor so you can order 25lb cases of almonds, to roast and make your own for $4-6 a lb.

Wow  All those types of almond butter sound amazing!  I would definitely buy some from you!  I've made homemade peanut butter one time, but haven't tried almond butter.  It'd probably be waayyy cheaper to make it yourself.  Right now, I'm actually doing the Paleo AIP diet which excludes all nuts.  I've been cheating a bit with the pbutter.  But I think I'm gonna have to give up the pbutter (and almond butter) for a few more months and give the diet a try for a while longer.  Appreciate the offer on the almonds...I may take you up on the offer down the road, if I start eating nuts again. ;)

This is perhaps not helpful to you specifically, but I eat Kraft peanut butter (not available in the US in stores, but the most ubiquitous brand in Canada). It is not labelled gluten-free as Kraft does not test incoming ingredients. Normally I don't mess around with packaged products that don't claim to be gluten-free, but this is my only exception.

I've been burned by various other brands of peanut butter, some of which did indeed claim to be gluten-free.

Here in the USA I was eating Skippy but the price got too much for my budget, so I ate Kroger store name brand or Peter Pan if on sale. Last couple months I’ve been eating Jiff cuz of the decent price and taste. Though Jiff is labeled gluten-free, with ur new post, I may have just identified why I’m getting glutened every so often, as I only eat 2 tbsp 2-3 times a week. Btw, never had any reactions whatsoever to Kroger or Peter Pan… constipation though, pntbttr is a clogger, go figure.

Thanks for sharing ur info…

I'm confused about these results. We are not seeing the GI doc. He's totally out of our price range. We can just do gluten free like we do for my daughter who was off the charts on all of these. Any thoughts? Maybe we caught it early? He's only 5.  His EMA was negative. That got cut out of the photo.

@TempCloud  How are you doing?  I hope you aren't reacting too badly? I would most likely react like Trents.  That said, I have read accounts of some coeliacs not showing any symptoms after glutening, after a long break from eating gluten.  But should that happen to you, unfortunately it should not be interpreted as the 'green light' to go back to gluten.  I am afraid coeliac disease at the present is a lifelong condition, and so, too, must be the gluten free diet.  Here are some tips to try, to help you feel better.
