Extreme bloating and water retention

Hi Everyone. New member, so i hope this is in the correct place.

I strongly suspect I am intolerant to Lactose and Gluten as after consuming anything with said ingredients, I bloat, get IBS symptoms and rash, nausea, itching, abdominal pains and feel like I have brain fog.

My Gp has ruled out all other issues and I am seeking a diagnosis.

I am interested if anyone else gets severe weight gain and bloating after consuming gluten?  I can gain 10 inches on my waist.  I weighed myself yesterday after a meal and I had gained 8lbs of bloat compared to what I way 24 hours later when fasting.

Is this severe bloating and retention a possible sign?

Sure.  that is a common sign.  Remember you need to be on a regular gluten containing diet for an extended period of time to be diagnosed with Celiac.

Thank you. I feel that awful after any Gluten now that I have emptied the cupboards and bought dairy and Gluten free foods.  This is truly awful. I had the rash , I think it is called the DH rash. This is the only reason I considered this.

I get the impression my GP doesn't understand it and thinks it is a trendy exclusion diet though

It is a trendy diet for people who don't have Celiac disease.  And, as far as your doctor can see, you do not have Celiac.  Unless you had the rash biopsied and it came back as DH?  Then you have Celiac.

Did your GP even run a celiac blood panel?  The rash can be harder to diagnose.  Celiacs can have all kinds of rashes, but Dermatitis Herpetiformis is a rash that is just affiliated with celiac disease.  Learn more about how to get tested:

It looks like their most recent clinical trial just finished up on 5-22-2025.

Dear Scott,  please check the link https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT05574010?intr=KAN-101&rank=1 What do you think about it?

KAN‑101 is still very much in development and being actively studied. It has not been dropped—rather, it is advancing through Phases 1 and 2, moving toward what could become the first disease‑modifying treatment for celiac disease. https://anokion.com/press_releases/anokion-announces-positive-symptom-data-from-its-phase-2-trial-evaluating-kan-101-for-the-treatment-of-celiac-disease/

Thiamine interacts with all the other B vitamins.  Thiamine and B 6 make a very important enzyme together. With more thiamine and other vitamins available from the supplements your body is absorbing the ones you need more of.  The body can control which vitamins to absorb or not.  You're absorbing more and it's being transported through the blood.   It's common to have both a Thiamine and a Pyridoxine deficiency.  Keep taking the B Complex. This is why it's best to stop taking supplements for six to eight weeks before testing vitamin levels.

Yes I took a supplement that had B6 in it, low dosage though. I've stopped taking that. B1 doesn't affect other B vitamin levels?
