Nervous About Endoscopy

I just need to vent about this idiot GI that did my biopsy. Still today no one has bothered to call me with my results which they have admitted are in. The doc was to be in today so his nurse told me he'd call me. When he hadn't called by 10:30 I left a v-mail. Then I left another v-mail at 2:30. Now I have resorted to faxing them, just once a minute ago. I'm out almost all day tomorrow so I'm guessing if they don't call in the next few minutes, I'll be in lingo until at least Wed. But I'm in the office all day that day so I'm going to resend my fax every hour on the hour, hoping they get tired of me wasting their time, paper and toner and get someone to freakin' call me. Okay, now I feel better. And the way I see it, if it was bad news, surely they would feel compelled to call me instead of ignoring me.

HI, I do not know where you are or the time there. If he is anything like mine he called me very late in the day after his office hours were over. Said that is when he makes those kinds of calls. So hopefully you will here from him today. If not how far is his office from you? I would just take a ride to his office and tell them you need a copy right away of it to take to another doctor.

It amazes me sometimes that the doctors really have no clue how it feels to be sitting at home waiting patiently for results, expecting the worst usually. I realize how busy they can be, but can't they devise some system for allowing their assistants/secretaries to give out results that aren't "terminal"? I can understand if someone was getting results that showed terminal cancer or something, then yeah, I wouldn't want some secretary breaking the news to me. But can't the secretary say, "Okay, results are in, says here you do indeed have celiac disease, and doctor will be calling you in the next day or two to discuss it". I see nothing wrong with that! And will save us all so much tension and worry.

Okay, done my rant!

Hugs.

Karen

We had a different experience than this. After tests I called for hubby's results (blood test) and "nurse" told us that the tests were negative but Dr. still wanted us to come in. At that point, thinking the test was neg for celiac disease, hubby ate wheat/oat/rye/barley as a non celiac would. Got to appointment about two weeks later only to be told that he does have celiac disease. But Dr. should call you back within 24 hrs of your first call, if the test results are in. But I agree, see it in black & white on paper and get a copy even if you chose to stay with this doctor. He sounds like he has sense with respect to medicine, maybe he's not too swift on returning calls in non-emergent situations..

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
