This is an email from my celiac support group here on Long Island. I thought you might all like to see this too:

Hi Everyone,

Please read the following - it concerns and affects all of us. This was originally posted on Delphiforums:

"I bought a book the other day, "Talk to the Hand" by Lynne Truss, She's the lady who also wrote "Eats, Shoots & Leaves". I bought it because it looked as though it might be quite funny.

>Anyway I got as far as page 5, where she is writing about pet hates - people who chat in the cinema; young people who walk four abreast on the pavement etc. - and she goes on to write -

>someone being 'gluten intolerant' or 'lactose intolerant', for example, I feel

I was really irritated by that remark and just put the book away. I now have no desire whatsoever to carry on reading it.

Thanks for sending this Deb.

Obviously that ditz thinks this a fad diet and we are all trying to be part of the "in" crowd. She is only demonstrating how ignorant she really is and how self-centered. As she is such a princess she doesn't want to put up with "this gluten crap."

She should try it from our end of the fence.

Well I have written to the publisher and the agent.

I sent one too....man, that really pisses me off.......

TALK TO THE HAND is something I feel I have to do living with celiac disease. Ha!

I did send an email and invited them to read my blogg how I had to pull Auntie's feeding tube. In cyberspace do people read emails or wearout their delete buttons?

Open Original Shared Link Don't think people want to buy books that get bad reviews. [lol]

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?
    • Fayeb23
Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.

To evaluate the TTG antibody result we’d need to know the normal range for that lab.  Labs don’t all use the same units.  However, based on any normal ranges that I’ve seen and the listed result being greater than a number rather than a specific number, I’d say yes, that is high! Higher than the range where the test can give a quantitative result. You got good advice not to change your diet yet.  If you went gluten free your intestines would start to heal, confusing any further testing,
