gluten-free flour causing symptoms

Hi guys,

I'm not a celiac, just intolerant/sensitive. I've tried a lot of different flour alternatives to varying degrees of success. However, most flour alternatives still give me some symptoms. Namely, gas and having to go to the bathroom a lot. Does anyone else have this problem?

Might want to look into FODMAPs.  Also, some people, celiac or not, find the gums, used to help hold gluten-free baked goods together, to be hard to digest

Thank you, I will!

You beat me to it, Karen!  ?

Many find the Xantham gums to cause issues, and they made from black rot.
Another issues with gluten free flours is often they rely on starches heavily and grain flours, these are more easily fermented in your intestines and cause gas. They can also spike your blood sugar since they are high glycemic and one of the main reasons why the GFD gets called unhealthy.
>.< I use almond/coconut flour blends and no starches for my baked goods but I can not have carbs anymore.

Thanks! I had heard somewhere that all grain flours can cause inflammation and that it was best to stay with almond and coconut.

That works as long as you do not have a nut allergy, like me!  ?

We have.  She is so limited as to what she can eat.  She has a nutritionist, but they are even at a loss.  Right now, her pain is so significant that she can only eat 5-10 bites a meal.   We just got some labs back today and she is hypoglycemia, anemic and her immune system is shot.  She also is positive for 3 tickborne illnesses.  Thanks for your help!

A much better suggestion than that of the new doctor!

Have you considered putting her on the autoimmune protocol diet?

I suggested she just not eat gluten ans still have the scope because of the pain she has been having.  She has lost significant weight and is failure to thrive at almoat 21.  She has had GERD and bleeding ulcers previously and is having those issues now.  She also has systemic sclerosis, so we know those things are issues with that.  We will find her a new doctor back home too.
