Well Ive been gluten-free for almost 2 months, still pretty new...i took a chance and had McD's fries last weekend, ever since the day after I ate them, i feel like ive been hit by a truck. I dont really know what it feels like to get glutened since this might be the first time, but I think it is from whats been going on.

Im just plain tired, want to crawl up and get under my blanket...(last week i was running around like i was in the marathon)

then i started getting pains in and around my belly area and over to that infamous right lower side, not intense, but annoying. Kinda nausea, and running to the bathroom at least 4 times a day, especially after i eat. Little brain foggy, def moody...(well PMS doesnt help either, thats why its hard for me to tell what it is)

First i thought it was a stomach bug, but then i thought about the french fries i ate, and i was like DUH!?!

SO any help getting over this would be sooo appreciated....how long do people typically have these episodes?

It's hard to say. McDonald's fries are generally considered to be okay. Unless your McDonald's is not that "careful", kwim? Maybe talk to the manager.......

Drink lots of water (and maybe try the pineapple juice everyone is talking about now, apparently, that helps in the "de-glutenizing".....)

Hugs.

it could have been the fries, or something else, or both! I have been sick from fries and it is not a good time.

No matter what the source, after I am glutened, I get sick after eating safe foods sometimes bc my body 'hates' me at that point. I drink lots of water and like Karen, potatoes are one of my comfort foods!

I would also re-check your labels-just to make sure nothing has changed.

FEEL BETTER!

The first time I got glutened it made me realize how good I had been feeling!

I thought I had been glutened last week. Could not figure out for the life of me how it happened. Then my dh and dd got sick. Turns out I probably had the flu

Even though McD's fries are supposed to be safe you always run the risk of cc when eathing out. It might be a good idea (if you can) to avoid eating out for awhile. After I first got dx I avoided any and all resturants. My theory was I needed to figure out how to eat at home first.

I hope you feel better. I drink peppermint tea, sprite and take Immodium.

It sounds like you have a very reasonable GI doctor, who diagnosed you based on family history and symptoms after eating gluten. I would consider you lucky! The other option would be to make yourself very sick by doing weeks of a gluten challenge prior to an endoscopy.

Hi Colleen H,   I suffered with the pins and needles/burning feeling in my legs and feet for at least  6 years until my Nephrologist figured out that I had to go on a low salt diet.  He said my kidneys weren't strong enough to remove the salt.  The simple fix was a diuretic, but that med leaves the uric acid behind, so that wasn't an option.  On the bright side the low salt diet lowered my BP over 20 points and and the pins and needles/burning feeling went away.  Good Luck and hope this helps.

Yes this is very frustrating for me ... not sure what to think.  Feels like I'm having reactions to a lot of things  Now applesauce?? I don't understand 😞

I did ... But aren't we going to be vitamin deficienct if we are not eating due to being sick ?? If the food we eat is gluten free and we have other sensitivities , how do we get out of the cycle??  Thank you

Anyone else get pins and needles. ??? Burning feeling ? Heat makes it so much worse 😔  Winter is here.  I had to lower my thermostat because I couldn't take that hot air feeling 😔  Hopefully it goes away soon
