Gum Base

Hi, I am pretty new to all this, but I saw gum base listed on the forbidden ingrediants, but I have seen Wrigley's gum on safe lists, and it has gum base as an ingrediant (as I would assume all gum would). Not that gum is a huge issue, I just don't understand, this would be so much easier if there were clear lines to gluten-free or not!! Can anyone explain?

Yes, I am also wondering about Gum Base. I have been following a gluten-free diet for almost 2 years now, but for the first year, I continued chewing Trident gum more often than any human probably should chew gum, but the intolerance symptoms seemed to stop completely even while I was still chewing gum. I also went to my co-op in search of some gluten-free gum & found Peelu gum which is labelled as specifically "Gluten-Free", but its first ingredient is Gum Base as well. I didn't try it because it was extremely expensive, but I am curious if most gum is ok?

If anyone knows, please post.

Gum base is on the avoid list, since not all gum bases are safe. You would need to check with manufacturers (or trust gluten-free lists) in order to know which gums are safe.

These are the ones I have listed as being gluten-free:

Beech-Nut Gum: Cinnamon 5-stick; peppermint; spearmint

Big League Chew Gum: Original; grape; strawberry

Bubble Yum: All flavors

Care Free Gum: Sugarless Only: bubble gum, cinnamon, peppermint, spearmint

Charms (800 877-7655): Blow Pops; Super Blow Pops

Dentyne Gums (Pfizer) (800 223-0182): All

Dubble Bubble: All

Fruit Stripe Gum: Bubble gum only

Trident Gums (Pfizer) (800 223-0182) (www.tridentgum.com): All

Wrigley's Gum, Wrigley (www.wrigley.com)

God bless,

Yikes ! I had no idea gum bases could have gluten in it. My son has a gum ball machine (the heavy duty ones that you get at Sam's club that they put in grocery stores etc...) he would be devastated if I had to tell him the gumballs have gluten in them :( , that's what he wanted for his 7th birthday. I guess I will try and find the gumballs that are gluten free ?

The gumballs might be safe, you would need to check with the manufacturer. My kids sometimes eat the gumballs from the big machines and have never had a problem.

God bless,

Mariann

So I've been dealing with chasing the name celiac because of my body actively dealing with health issues related to celiac though not eating. Diagnosed in 1994 before foods eliminated from diet. After 25 years with former pcp I googled celiac specialist and she wasn't because of what ive been through. I wanted my results to be sent to my pcp but nothing was sent.I have email copies.I did one zoom call with np with team member from celiac specialist in Nov 2025 and she asked me why I wanted to know why I wanted the celiac diagnosis so bad, I sad I don't, its my life and I need revalidaion because its affecting me.KB stated well it shows you are.I asked then why am I going through all this.I was labeled unruly. Its been a celiac circus and medical has caused anxiety and depression no fault to my own other than being born with bad genetics. How is it legal for medical professionals to gaslight patients that are with an ailment coming for help to be downplayed? KB put in my records that she personally spent 120min with me and I think the zoom call was discussing celiac 80 min ONE ZOOM call.SHE is responsible for not explaining to my pcp about celiac disease am I right?

I've noticed with my age and menopause my smell for bread gives me severe migraines and I know this. Its alarming that there are all these fabulous bakeries, sandwich places pizza places popping up in confined areas.Just the other day I suffered a migraine after I got done with my mri when a guy with a brown paper bag walk in front of me and I smelled that fresh dough bread with tuna, I got a migraine when we got home.I hate im that sensitive. Its alarming these places are popping up in airports as well.I just saw on the news that the airport ( can't remember which  one)was going to have a fabulous smelling bakery. Not for sensitive celiacs, this can alter their health during their travel which isn't safe. More awareness really NEEDS to be promoted, so much more than just a food consumption!FYI I did write to Stanislaus to let them know my thoughts on the medical field not knowing much about celiac and how it affects one.I also did message my gi the 3 specialist names that was given on previous post on questions on celiac. I pray its not on deaf door.
