okay- I've searched but didn't find what I was looking for....so I'm going to pose the queation for you guys! ;)

Does any one know if there are cheeses to avoid? I have been eating cheese lately and I'm not feeling at all well. I know brick cheese is supposed to be okay. But what about other cheeses? Especially blue cheese and brie. If they are not okay, then that explains alot!

Thanks :D

Kraft will list any allergen ingredients. If you are in Canada, Parmalat will not confirm that any of their products are gluten-free. Dairyland has many gluten-free products.

Thanks! I'll get right on it! I didn't even think about cheese being forbidden. This just gets harder and harder! 'Cuz I love cheese. I thought well I have the nut thins, alright, I can still have my favorite snack....NOPE

By the way, I researched blue cheese and it turns out they grow the blue mold on a special....BREAD!

Which makes since, but still..... ;)

Lollie,

I have found that the majority of cheese is gluten-free. However, after my dx and going gluten-free I noticed I could not tolerate dairy very well. Could this be the problem? It is very common for celiacs (especially after dx) to not tolerate dairy well. I have also read that some celiacs after going gluten-free notice they have intolerences to other food. I have just recently been adding more dairy back into my diet. I have been gluten-free for almost 10 months! There was an excellent article written in the magazine Gluten Free Living on blue cheese. It was pretty technical and very interesting. The long and short of it is that most blue cheese is safe.

Thanks! I'll try to find that article. I just know that the only thing I've done the same the past two days, was eat blue cheese. The first day I had alot and about 3 hours later I was sicker than I've been in the whole month since I went gluten-free. Then again ysterday I only had a little and again, very sick. So, I;m just not going to eat blue cheese. And I guess I better be alot more careful. As far as I know I don't have any dairy intolerences-but who knows!

Thanks again!

this is something that i thought about too, my mother buys blocks of cheese (like feta) from our bakery in our town. They have a huge block which they cut from...would u consider just plain cheese like that gluten-free? or would u buy it in the store with a label on it stating all the ingredients?

Most experts on celiac disease recommend avoding dairy for at least 6 months (or until your villi/small intestine are healed).

Bleu cheese should be fine -- but listen to your body! Some people can handle it some can't.

Most bleu cheese molds are grown on a non-gluten medium -- even ifn they were grown with a gluten medium, the chance for gluten contamination is pretty small -- afterall, it is a mold, not bread anymore.

i looked up blue cheese and found that it is grown on a special kind of bread. And it is on the forbidden list....I didn't have it before!

Thanks all! I think I will just stay clear of chesse other than cheddar for a while!

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
