my daughter that is already so much under weight has gotten a stomach bug. she has been nauseated and having diarreah (SP?) i weighed her today and she has lost a little over 3 lbs. she already eats so little. i have got to get her diarreah stopped. can i give her immodium? she is already so frail looking and i am a little worried that she will dehydrate and have something medically awful happen to her. would i be foolish to call our ped gi over a stomach bug?

Chrissy,

Imodium is okay, as far as I know. I wouldn't feel bad about calling the doctor. I hope she gets better soon. Let us know how she's doing. Good luck. x

Chrissy, If you can, give her gatorade. I have even used a teaspoon and just put a tiny amt in their mouths since dehydration is so dangerous. Once I even soaked a paper towel in it and had my son suck on it just to try to get some electrolytes in him. Once the vomiting stops, bananas have always helped my sons. I hope she feels better soon. I hope you get rest too. When your kids are sick, it tears a parent apart, I know. I usually end up sick after they get better, so take care of yourself, too.

Amen to that!

I heart Sam's club for buying it in bulk. I've read in a few places that it is safe, and for the record, the chewable immodium advanced is safe and works like a charm! :)

I wouldn't give immodium to a child with a stomache bug, because my pedi said that if they have something not cool in thier body that D is the way it gets out, he said celiac D, is okay for immodium but food poisoning or stomache virus you need to let the D run it's course.

Keep her hydrated and wait it out is my advice, if she is really underweight and doesn't feel like eating maybe give her some pediasure (it's gluten free)

hmm, does immodium even help you when you're throwing up?? i use it when i have a D attack.........and it helps.......a stomach bug unfortunately usually has to take its course. the gatorade or pedialyte has helped me in the past with that stuff

i talked to the ped gi---since she can't afford to lose any weight and she is the only one sick in the family, he called an order to the lab for a stool test. i think that maybe she is improving a little---at least she hasn't gone potty as many times today, so i may hold off on the lab test until tomorrow and see how she is doing.

i bought her some boost so she could get some calories. she is starting to get a little anxious about the weight loss.

But M&M's contain milk, and would not be at all like a Tootsie Roll.

I appreciate you validating me because medical is an issue and it's not ok at all they they do this. Some days I just want to call the news media and just call out these doctors especially when they are supposed to be specialist Downplaying when gluten-free when they should know gluten-free is false negative. Now dealing with other issues and still crickets for disability because I show no signs of celiac BECAUSE IM GLUTENFREE! Actively dealing with sibo and skin issues.Depression is the key because thats all they know, im depressed because medical has caused it because of my celiac and related issues. I should have never ever been employed as a bus driver. After 3 years still healing and ZERO income desperately trying to get better but no careteam for celiac other than stay away frim wheat! Now im having care because my head is affected either ms or meningioma in go in tomorrow again for more scans.I know im slowly dying and im looking like a disability chaser

M&M Peanuts. About the same calories and sugar while M&M Peanuts have fiber, potassium, iron and protein that Tootsie Rolls ("We are currently producing more than 50 million Tootsie Rolls each day.") don't. Click the links to compare nutritional values.  Both are made with sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.  I use them as a gluten free substitute for a peanut butter sandwich.  Try her on grass fed, pasture fed milk. While I get heartburn at night from commercial dairy milk, I do not from 'grassmilk'.

I see it everyday on my feeds.  They go out and buy gluten-free processed products and wonder why they can't heal their guts.  I don't think they take it as a serious immune disease. They pick up things off the internet which is so far out in left field.  Some days I would just like to scream.  So much better when we had support groups and being able to teach them properly. I just had an EMA blood test because I haven't had one since my Doctor moved away.  Got test results today, doctor ordered a D3 vitamin test.  Now you know what  type of doctors we have.  Now I will have to pay for this test because she just tested my D3 end of December, and still have no idea about my EMA.
