Hi guys! Like a lot of you I am crushed to hear about the possibility of gluten in the fries. I have been giving them to my 4 year old for over a year now and assuming they were safe. :angry: I am really hoping for some good news when the testing comes back with a definite answer.

Anyway, another mom in my ROCK (celiac Kids) group said that she has been giving her daughter the fries 1-2 times a week for years and that her bloodwork always comes back perfect when she gets her 6 mo checks. If they contained gluten and she was consuming them regularly, wouldnt her bloodwork indicate that?

I cant rely on bloodwork for my son since his was iffy to begin with and he was only diagnosed thru biopsy and improvement on the gluten-free diet.

If the fries had any significant level of gluten and were being eaten that often, then, yes, I'd think the blood tests probably would have indicated something, even though they might not be sky high. The blood tests are not infallible, as you know, so the good tests don't absolutely prove anything, but they are still the best method we have for checking compliance (that and health improvement).

The best thing will be to test the oil or the finished fries for gluten. I've heard this is being done but have no idea when results will be out.

If the fries had a very large amount of gluten then yes. But even if (and McD's now states otherwise) the fries had the small amount of gluten that would be passed from a flavoring, it would likely NOT show up in a blood test. You need at least 0.3 g/kg/day for two mounths. Not twice a week, EVERY DAY for two months.

      Hello, just popped in my head to ask this question about medications and celiac? I have always had refurse reaction to meds since I can remember  of what little meds my body is able to tolerate. I was taking gabapentin 300mg for a week,  in past I believe 150? Any ways it amps me up not able to sleep, though very tired.However I did notice it helped with my bloating sibo belly.I hate that my body is that sensitive and medical doesn't seem to take seriously. Im STILL healing with my skin, eye, and now ms or meningioma ( will know in April  which)and dealing with this limbo nightmare. I did write my name, address ect on the reclamation but im not tech savvy and not sure if went through properly. I called my city representative in Stanislaus County and asked if theres a physical paper i can sign for proclamation for celiac and she had no clue about what I was saying, so I just said I'll go back on website.

      I'm not saying that some celiacs won't need it, but it should be done under a doctor's supervision because it can cause lots of problems in some people.

      I also noticed I get debilitating migraines when I smell gluten, wheat and its not taken seriously when it affects one in every way.Im still begging to properly be heard.I also noticed tolerance level is down the drain with age and life changes. I have been told by incompetent medical that im not celiac or that sensitive. Diagnosed in 1994 by gi biopsy gluten-free ever since along with other lovely food allergies. Prayers

      trents:  Why some can tolerate european bread but not american bread.     I take 600 mcg a day.  Right in the middle of the safe range.   Groups at Risk of Iodine Inadequacy Though though the NIH does not specifically list Celiac Disease in this group, they state: "Iodide is quickly and almost completely absorbed in the stomach and duodenum.
