Hi,

Mine are because I only buy ones that are gluten-free.  You should really do the same IMHO if you are trying to eat gluten-free.  I can tell you that plain Hershey's chocolate syrup is gluten-free in the USA.

In a major effort not to come off as a total Richard-head I am posting in a link to Hershey's website.  They have a nice disclaimer on gluten and a list of their products that are gluten-free.

Actually I think their Special Dark Choc Syrup and Simply 5 Choc Syrup are gluten-free too.  I found some sugar free pancake syrup recently and am planning to try making it into chocolate syrup by adding cocoa powder to it.  According to my science I should actually lose weight while eating ice cream that way. :)

I haven't tried any of their caramel sauces myself.  For any other product the same also holds true, read the ingredients.  That usually works although their have been some cases of mislabeling things gluten-free show up.  The Gluten-free Watchdog posts notices about those products on Facebook.  I think Hershey's is pretty good about labeling.  I am not sure about other companies.

      Okay that is really good to know. So with that being positive and the other being high it makes sense she diagnosed her even without the endoscopy. So glad we caught it early. She had so many symptoms though that to me it was clear something was wrong.   yeah I think we had better test us and the other kids as well.

      @GlorietaKaro, your respiratory reactions to gluten make me wonder if there might also be an allergic (anaphylaxis) component at work here.

      Thanks to both of you for your responses!  Sadly, even after several years of very strict gluten avoidance, I remember the symptoms well enough that I am too frightened to risk a gluten challenge— heartbeat and breathing problems are scary— Scott, thank you for the specific information— I will call around in the new year to see if I can find anyone. In the meantime, I will carry on has I have been— it’s working! Thanks also for the validation— sometimes I just feel crushed by disbelief. Not enough to make me eat gluten though—
