I am 41 years old, single, and was diagnosed with Celiac’s Disease almost 10 years ago. The cost of rent is not what it used to be and homeownership is a dream that feels like it’s floating away for many of us. It seems most renters are sharing houses with roommates or partners. And for people like me, who aren’t college age anymore, even finding a friend to rent with can be a challenge let alone one who is gluten free. I’m looking for a way to search online for a roommate with Celiac’s Disease. I can’t possibly be the only one who feels like they must live alone due to their dietary restrictions. Living alone is becoming a luxury that many can no longer reasonably afford. Does such a resource exist for celiacs looking to share a house/kitchen? If not, would celiac.com consider offering a roommate message center? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum. I moved this thread into our "Meet Up Room" area, where others have posted who are also looking for gluten-free roommates. If you can share your city and state I can update this thread with the correct, searchable info so that it will be possible to connect with a potential roommate.

Thank you! I knew there had to be message board for this topic. I’m currently living in Chattanooga, TN but will most likely be moving home to New Orleans, LA. I’m not quite ready to look for a roommate just yet. I was just trying to set my future self up with the right places to look. I appreciate your help!

@TempCloud  How are you doing?  I hope you aren't reacting too badly? I would most likely react like Trents.  That said, I have read accounts of some coeliacs not showing any symptoms after glutening, after a long break from eating gluten.  But should that happen to you, unfortunately it should not be interpreted as the 'green light' to go back to gluten.  I am afraid coeliac disease at the present is a lifelong condition, and so, too, must be the gluten free diet.  Here are some tips to try, to help you feel better.

If it was me, within 2-3 hours I would be throwing up violently with excruciating abdominal cramps for 2-3 hours. When this phase was done I would go into the diarrhea phase for several hours. But every celiac is different in how they respond to getting "glutened".
