Other Disorders Caused By Gluten as a Coeliac

So this is my first time posting in this forum, well in any forum, frankly.

I was diagnosed with Coeliac when I was 14/15 as I didn't grow at the normal rate and started pubity a lot later than the norm.

In all honesty I've struggled with it my whole life, now 37.

When i eat gluten it not only affects me physically but also mentally. And it's a constant battle because I don't think I've gone one whole month in my life without gluten... may seem a bit pathetic but i find it a real struggle.

Does anybody else feel this way?

It's a huge burden on my life and i don't think people realise how much of a burden it actually is.

It's mentally and physically draining.

Welcome to the forum, @Rhowarth!

Is your inability to be consistent with gluten free eating by choice or by circumstance/accident?

@Rhowarth,

Welcome to the forum!

Many have struggled with falling off the wagon.  We'll give you a hand back up.  You'll be alright.

I found I was falling off the wagon because I was deficient in vitamins and minerals and my brain was craving the foods containing those nutrients.  The damage done to the small intestine prevents us from absorbing sufficient nutrients.  Gluten containing foods are required to be enriched with vitamins and minerals.  Gluten free facsimile foods are not required to be enriched with vitamins and minerals.  Once I started taking a B Complex, extra Thiamine, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, and minerals like magnesium and iron, I felt much better.  It's been much easier to stay on the wagon, too.  Have you been found to be deficient in any nutrients?

Gluten (and casein in dairy) attaches to the opioid receptors in our brains and bodies.  It's basically an opioid addiction.

Some of us produce anti-gluten antibodies (tTg 6 IgA) that accidentally attack our brains.  (The main blood test for Celiac Disease tests for tTg 2 IgA.)  The tTg 6 IgA antibodies are found in Gluten Ataxia and also found in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

 What sort of diet are you currently following?  Any regular medications?  Taking any vitamins?

      I noticed eating gluten-free or CGF foods have higher sugar and sodium some. No added sugar protein bars I found better with plant fiber. I wanted to know what are you go to besides whole fruits/veggies that you find are healthy for you where you can feel eating normal without hurting yourself or health. I was looking into subscription based like Thrift to see if there is something that is healthier CGF that can make me feel normal. Thanks

      Thankyou because I met up with K B with well known bay area hospital once and she said she knows I don't like to take meds, I said thats incorrect, I have issues.Thats the one that said I was deemed " unruly " when she admitted I was celiac when I asked why am I going through this.

      Cristiana, that sounds like a great approach and I will be looking forward to the results. I am in the same boat as you. I don't experience overt symptoms with minor, cross contamination level exposures so I sometimes will indulge in those "processed on equipment that also processes wheat . . ." or items that don't specifically claim to be gluten free but do not list gluten containing grains in their ingredient list. But I always wonder if I am still experiencing sub acute inflammatory reactions. I haven't had any celiac antibody blood work done since my diagnosis almost 25 years ago so I don't really have any data to go by.
