Cruise and GliadinX

Going on a cruise next week and I’m a celiac. Bought a bottle of GliandinX. Should I just take two tablets per day as a precaution? Never tried this before!! Any help is appreciated!!

I have not tried that. But my gastroenterologist gave me a prescription when I was traveling to Italy for Prednisone prescribed as 10mg, 1-2 tablets daily in the am before eating to counteract any symptoms so as to not hinder my diet while enjoying Italian food. I never actually took the medicine but have used it if I inadvertently ate the wrong thing at a restaurant and in that scenario it seemed to lesson my symptoms of adoption and bloating. Does anyone else have experience with using prednisone?

@Joe R are you saying that while traveling in Italy as a person with Celiac disease, you are eating gluten-containing foods and taking prednisone to dampen down the flares?

That was the suggestion from my GI doc but I never book the medicine and maintained a strict gluten free diet. Actually, Italy is much more sensitive to gluten free diets than the US, I found.

Thanks for clarifying! That's what I've heard, too, about Italy, but I've never been, sad face. Almost no one on these boards would recommend the approach of your GI doc, and would instead stick with yours. (Maybe if a "glutening" causes so many discomforts and inconveniences that it just overwhelms your life, and you have nothing else to do...maybe.) But, generally in the clinical setting, coming off prednisone requires a taper, as suddenly quitting can cause problems. Anyway, good for you!

I've spoken to the founder of GliadinX and you that would be a good approach--but I'm assuming you're eating gluten-free options and worried about cross-contamination. I do this myself when eating in restaurants and traveling. If you know you accidently eat a lot of gluten you can safely ramp up the dosage and take 4 or 5, according to my conversations.

I think it is best to take GliadinX Just before, during or just after you eat a food that may have a small amount of gluten.  Taking 2 capsules of GliadinX in the morning will not protect you all day because it will be long gone when you need it. The upper digestive system is where the digestive enzymes break down gluten. The problem with Celiacs is that normal digestion will only break down gluten to the point where the small fragments will still cause a reaction. GliadinX will break down the fragments so that they are too small to start the autoimmune reaction. 

The label on my bottle reads'it works in the stomach' and that is ver concentrated so 1 capsule is the recomm

PS - I agree with @Mari, and it works best when taken right before eating anything that might be contaminated, but in the case of the review above, my mother took it ~5-10 minutes after finishing her last bite of regular pie.

      I have trouble with nausea. It often starts when I’m anxious about something (home repairs, sick dog) but continues long after the home is repaired or the dog is healthy again. When it happens I eat less and lose weight.  My gastroenterologist suggested ginger or peppermint tea. I don’t know if that will work or not because I haven't had the problem since she suggested it.

      Hello  I'm not sure what to think . Seems no matter what I do I get sick. I had some yogurt with only 2 grams of sugar and is labeled gluten free ...the strawberry version seemed to really set me off My jaw is burning as well as my stomach and my feet.  Horrible pain..plus acid reflux and nausea... sensitivity to touch pain. ..yikes !! I don't know if it's from the lactose in the yogurt or if I'm getting an ulcer  This condition can make you question yourself quite a bit.  Then if you are not sure the anxiety comes 😞 Does any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? The neuropathy is quite intense.  What do you eat or drink after this happens  Open to suggestions  Thank you

      Of course my son is on a 100% gluten free diet.  I wish his symptoms were not debilitating as there are right now.  He cannot work, even when a miniscule of cross contamination occurs.  It's not just GI distress, but intense fatigue, brain fog, depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc.  It's literally neurological inflammation.  Not to be taken lightly here.  We have sought out many other possible ways to cope during this window of time (8 months!!!!)  without success.   AN-PEP does not help and seems like studies on this are not well researched.  So, we are trying this out because research shows some promising results.  And, all participants showed no cravings afterwards, no signs of addiction.  The patch is different than the oral route such as smoking, vaping, gum, pouch, etc.

      Have you tried AN-PEP enzymes, for example, GlutenX (who is a sponsor here)? A lot of research has shown that it can break down small amounts of gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the intestines. It might be a better approach than risking nicotine addiction, and the questionable research around this. I also hope that he’s trying to be 100% Gluten-Free.

      Hi all  I was diagnosed Coeliac a few years ago and follow a gluten free diet. The list of foods that I can eat without a problem grows shorter on a weekly basis. [I also have diabetes and asthma also].  BUT the reason I am posting this is because I seem to struggle with nausea quite a lot, which is really quite debilitating, and I was wondering if others suffer from nausea, even if following a gluten free diet.
