Tater Tots And Smiley Fries

Thanks to my food log, I can look back and see that the last few times I've had Tater Tots or Smiley Fries I seem to have an "epsiode" the next day or so. Which is a shame, they are tasty and one of the few "convenience" foods I have.

Does anyone else seem to have a problem with them? Is it just that's it's processed?

Shame too - I've been doing great lately and of course don't want to take one more thing away... esp. an easy food.

Ev--I eat the McCain's smily fries with no problem at all. I have not had tater tots, but Ore Ida hash browns, I believe, affected me. I stick to the McCains--any of their "blue bag" products have been fine for me. I always read the labels to make sure when trying a different one--and their customer service is very nice and helpful.

What kind of tater tots are you having?

Ore-Ida makes tater tots, and the ingredients list doesn't suggest anything bad in it, however they do not appear on their official gluten free list so I have always avoided them.

If you are near a Giant Eagle, I eat their tater tots all the time and haven't had a problem...yet!

My daughter and I eat the smiles with no problems! What else have yiu eaten at the same time? Anything with the same ingredients?

The only other thing that I seem to have around the same time is a fruit smoothie (strawberry and bannana) made with almond milk. Last time at the store the Pacific Vanilla flavor was on sale, usually I use Blue Diamond plain almond milk. Hmmm....

I hate that the only way to test a food is to eat it and make plans to be near a bathroom :rolleyes:

I've tried Ore Ida oven bake fries and gotten sick 2x....ingredient list looked fine - but no luck.

Moving on to try McCains.

      You might try Heallix.  It's a silver solution with fulvic acid. I just put the solution on with a cotton ball.  It seemed to stop the nerve pain. Again,  not in your eyes or ears.   Go to heallix.com to read more about it and decide for yourself Also,  I do think nerve and celiac combined have a lot to do with your susceptibility to shingles breaking out.

      Celiac disease requires both genetic potential and a triggering stress event to activate the genes. Otherwise it remains dormant and only a potential problem. So having the genetic potential is not deterministic for celiac disease. Many more people have the genes than actually develop the disease. But if you don't have the genes, the symptoms are likely being caused by something else.

      Yes, i pulled raw ancetry data and saw i have 2/3 markers for DQ2.2 but have heard from friends in genetics that this raw data can be wildly innacurate

      Thanks, I’m still dealing with the pain and tingling and itching and feeling like bugs or something crawling around on my face and scalp. It’s been a miserable experience. I saw my eye doc last week, the eye itself was okay, so they didn’t do anything. I did take a 7 day course of an antiviral. I’m hoping for a turnaround soon! My life is full of stress but I have been on / off the gluten free diet for the last year , after being talked into going back on gluten to have a biopsy, that looked okay. But I do have positive antibody levels that have been responsive  to a gluten free diet. I can’t help but wonder if the last year has caused all this.

      I don't think any apps are up to date, which is exactly why this happened to you. Most of the data in such apps is years old, and it doesn't get updated in real time. Ultimately there is no substitution for learning to read labels. The following two lists are very helpful for anyone who is gluten sensitive and needs to avoid gluten when shopping. It's very important to learn to read labels and understand sources of hidden gluten, and to know some general information about product labelling--for example in the USA if wheat is a possible allergen it must be declared on a product's ingredient label like this: Allergens: Wheat.
