Hey Dave,

You forgot to add the rest of your jobs to your sig.

Camille'sBigSister Newbie
All caught up now I think...

Cissi was that your first cousin of the second sister far removed? :o:ph34r::lol:

Let's see now: Cu'dn Lula was my mother's fourth cousin thrice removed, so, if I remember correctly the lessons in Southern geneology learned at my sainted mother's knee, that would make Cu'dn Lula my fourth cousin four times removed.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to clear that up.

Cissie

BABY ALERT

Wait one minute... is there talk about another MAN?:lol:

Twisted sister... is he good or bad? Does he look like that guy on the diet coke commercial.. the construction worker on break?

OMg-That guy on the commercial-- :D Donna, Donna, what?! Only plums off your trees to eat? Geez, someone get that girl some food!!

Good GAWWWWWWWWD!! Celia, you crack me up :D Country and Western lol.

I love the new word mentioned-crumage -that is a good one.

Bev, oh thank goodness I am forgiven my grammar sins, lol.

Dingo, Dingo, Susie-Q-Nuggets, new man, cabins, wow, too much happening at once!! Hey, I don't think going on a hike or a picnic is a bad idea. Take the girls and have a blast. Invite him to church. If he balks at that, then there's a clue to his lifestyle/intentions.

Rachel, I think someone did something to those muffins and the secret was out, otherwise are those people nuts? Sounds like my crazy kid who takes one bite from a cookie and leaves it. What is that?!!!!

penguin-love your music. I love most all music. Opera to Bluegrass to rap. Favorite all - time song-River of Tears-Eric Clapton, the great one. Elvis omg ..... :) , My favorite music is the blues.

Dh loves 60's folk and bluegrass. He is still in love with Joan Baez. Has been since he was a teenager. Yes, I am the "other woman". Ds and I always find something to do while he is listening to his music at FULL BLAST on his circa 1975 stereo system (which is a hideous eyesore that I have covered with a throw) The man is going deaf

So glad to be back on here tonight. This is dinner conversation: Me: So, did anything interesting happen today? Dh: Well, I had pepper steak for lunch. Me: Nothing else ? Dh: Oh, yeah, this was weird, the cashier asked me if I wanted a five or five ones for change! I thought, well it doesn't matter, so I told her a five. Geez. Me: Wow, Honey, you really like to live on the edge. Ds: You two are soooo nuts. I am so excited, I almost fell off my chair. I literally am falling..ASLEEP here.

So, you see why I love Rachelville so much!!!!

Cissie--you mustn't leave!!! I love your stories so much!! Dangling nerves, lol. I think ALL my nerves are dangling.

Mia and Lynne's son? Hmmmm, a romance maybe? :)

:) Mango/Meredith I see you!!! Where are the koalas? I really need to know --Is it true that they smell like cough drops? Hey, look we have a village idiot-meet The Dave, lol

Cissie, I hope that cousin with half a toe isn't celiac locked in that attic. Btw, that padded room has to have a throne and plenty of ventilation.

Picard, if you are still on, what is this heinous test? Do you drink some concoction? Geez, it sounds like a breathilizer test. I hope it works out ok and you are not too sick from it.

Vincent -Good luck on tomorrow's test. Will be thinking/praying for good news.

Bev-How did your test go and how are you feeling today?

Camille'sBigSister Newbie
Are these the bad bats or the purple glittery one? Because we must let the pretty bats in.

Oh, the bad bats only. We luv our purple glittery ones.

Cissie

Oh my no... because you will have to share the attic with the half toed one and she will try to cook for you and I'm not sure if she's gluten free, is she?

maybe she's like that crazy one in Jane Eyre - - -Cissie, what do you think....watch out or she will burn the place down......

Rachel,

I've got to get dinner for Seth and our dinner is almost done, so we may be in the same boat.

Can you go shopping for me too? I just live 11 hours north of you, that's not bad. :P

You are absolutely right, madame. She isn't gluten free, and I'm damned if those kids are gonna pass my gluten free food up to me in a bucket. Something must be done! SOS! SOS! SOS! CALLING ALL GEESE AND DINGOS!!!!!

I made it through the holiday w/o being glutened. I had my brother cook with gluten-free breadcrumbs and I didn't get sick. I baked cookies with gluten-free flour and had dry ingredients for cookies in ziplock bag. I also made gluten cookies as well and guess I did good washing to avoid CC. My wife also went to a french bakery and bought a gluten-free flourless chocolate cake dedicated gluten-free it was out of this world.

What do you mean it would not allow any celiac to eat gluten again. I think if this helps cross contamination when eating out at a non dedicated gluten-free restaurant this would be nice not to encounter the pains. But is their a daily enzyme to take to help strengthen the digestive system?

Hi, thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, no other antibody tests were ordered. I am a 32-year-old male. About two months ago, I ate pancakes and then developed severe diarrhea that lasted the entire day. At night, I became unconscious due to fluid loss and was admitted to the ER, where I received IV fluids. Two days later, I ate bread again and once more developed severe diarrhea. I ended up in the ER again and received IV fluids. In my country, Pakistan, doctors are unfortunately not very thorough, so they treated me for a stomach infection. I visited three or four doctors, including a gastroenterologist, but it seemed like they just wanted to keep me on medications and IV fluids. Eventually, I did some digging myself and started connecting the dots. For years, I’ve had excessive gas buildup and frequent loose stools, but I never paid much attention to it. I also cannot easily digest dairy products. Two years ago, I had a CBC test that showed iron deficiency. My doctor told me to eat more meat and said it was nothing serious. However, for the past five years, I’ve also had severe motion sickness, which I never experienced before. Whenever I get on a bus or in a car, I sometimes lose consciousness for 10–20 seconds and wake up sweaty, and occasionally I feel the need to vomit. After more research on the internet, I came across gluten and celiac disease, so I got two related tests (TTG-IgA & TTG IgG) done along with a stool test and another CBC. The stool test showed weakly positive blood. Ever since eating those pancakes and bread, I’ve had a burning sensation in my gut. My doctor reviewed my tests, he told me to completely stop eating gluten and started me on IV fluids for 20 days, saying that I had severe inflammation in my gut. It has now been two months since I quit gluten, and I’m still not sure whether this is celiac disease or gluten intolerance. I don’t really trust doctors in Pakistan, so I thought I might get some help here.

Welcome to the celiac.com community, @SamAlvi! Were there any other antibody tests ordered? Particularly, was there a "total IGA" test ordered to check for IGA deficiency. When people are IGA deficient, celiac panel IGA test scores, such as the TTG-IGA, are likely not valid. If a total IGA test was not ordered, I would request such to be done. Note: "Total IGA" goes by other names as well. I will include a primer on celiac disease antibody testing which does a good job in covering the nomenclature variations connected with the various tests. Elevated IGG scores can certainly indicate celiac disease but they are more likely than elevated IGA tests to be caused by something else.

Thank you— yes, valid and essential— The issue either doctors is that every one I have tried to talk to about this has essentially rolled their eyes and dismissed me as a hypochondriac, which gets discouraging. I believe a diagnosis would help me to be taken seriously by doctors as well as being validating, but can carry on without it.    There are many, probably most people in my area of my age and gender, who avoid gluten, but many just avoid it casually— eating the occasional plate of wheat pasta or a delicious-looking dessert, or baking cookies with wheat flour for gatherings.  That is not an option for me. I don’t eat other people’s cooking or go to restaurants that do not have strict cross- contamination procedures. It can be boring and lonely, and people do look at me as if I am being a bit dramatic but weeks of symptoms after a single small exposure has taught me to respect my experience.    Thank you very much for your response— sometimes I just need to hear that I am not crazy—
