That will be intersting to find out. I have braces, and when they are taken off, I will also have a metal bar behind both my top and bottom teeth to keep them from moving. They will be stainless just like my braces are.

Do chlorella and chloryphil do the same things? Are they similiar. Someone recently told me to take chloryphil for detox, but I keep reading stuff about chlorella.

That's a good question...I think they are different, but similar. I know I've read about it, so if I can find what I've read I'll post back here.

Dear Mango,

I would check to see what kind of metal that retainer is made of. It may be stainless steel, but considering it was put in twelve years ago, it may not be. Materials change over the years. You may have to ask your dentist. That would probably be the best way to go.

Sincerely,

Okay, here's something I found about chlorella/chlorophyll from LymeNet (apparently my favorite source of into these days, lol)...they're specifically talking about metals, but also detox in general--the original source wasn't quoted unfortunately:

The astounding chlorophyll content of chlorella and spirulina

Chlorella is the richest source of chlorophyll on planet Earth. What's so good about chlorophyll? There's nothing more cleansing and detoxifying than chlorophyll. And people who follow Western diets (high in processed foods and animal foods) are in desperate need of cleansing and detoxifying.

Here's something interesting: chlorophyll actually helps remove heavy metals from your body that have accumulated due to the ingestion of contaminated food products. Certain sea foods are especially known to contain dangerous levels of heavy metals like mercury, but these contaminants are also found in animal products and even non-organic crops.

If you've been eating refined foods, you undoubtedly have mercury, cadmium, arsenic, lead, PCBs and other contaminants in your body. The chlorophyll in chlorella actually helps remove those heavy metals from your body, which can have seemingly miraculous benefits to your health.

Another common source for contaminants is mercury fillings used by dentists. They call them "silver fillings," actually, since they don't want to openly admit they're still putting mercury -- one of the most potent nerve toxins on the planet -- into the mouths of patients.

These mercury fillings emit a steady stream of mercury vapor that gets absorbed into your body. Frequently, small bits of these mercury fillings crack, break off, and are swallowed with your food. In this way, nearly all dental patients in America and other "civilized" countries are subjected to routine mercury poisoning at the hands of their dentists.

Chlorella can help protect you against this mercury be escorting the mercury out of your body before it can do damage. If you take chlorella before and after receiving dental work, you will help protect yourself from the toxic effects of mercury fillings.

This is especially important if you decide to have your mercury fillings removed, as more and more people are doing. The very process of drilling them out results in a tidal wave of mercury exposure in your body. Having a stomach full of chlorella offers considerable protection against the mercury bits you inevitably swallow during this procedure.

I underwent a full-scale mercury filling removal program myself. It required nearly ten sessions in the chair, and I used chlorella each time. As a result, I suffered no ill effects from the mercury removal. Today, my mouth is 100% free of mercury, and the chlorella that I continue to take on a daily basis protects me from dietary mercury that might find its way to my dinner plate.

Chlorophyll does much more than protect you from mercury, however: it's also a general detoxifier that supports liver function so that your lives can do a better job of eliminating toxins from your system.

Chlorella is an algae that contains chlorophyll....the chlorophyll is natural occurring in algae.

Chlorella gets its name from the high amount of chlorophyl it possesses. Chlorella contains more chlorophyl per gram than any other plant. Chlorophyl is one of the greatest food substances for cleansing the bowel and other elimination systems, such as the liver and the blood.

Green algae are the highest sources of chlorophyl in the plant world. And of all the green algae studied so far, chlorella has the highest, often ranging from 3 to 5% pure natural chlorophyll.

Here is a page about chlorella..

Oh, my, a year! I wonder what the longest running thread anywhere is?:lol:

I have an update. My herx started Saturday evening. My LLMD measures how I'm doing on a % scale with 0 being dead and 100 being perfect for my age. I started out at 15% when I saw him in Jan. Each month since then I've said I was 20-25%.

So, I went to bed early Saturday evening. Sunday I never got up ... Adam brought my meals upstairs. Monday, same thing until I took my sauna before dinner (Sun. I skipped the sauna, but take one daily normally). After my sauna I felt significantly better, so went downstairs to the couch for dinner ... better than bed, but still not at the table.

Yesterday I got up, went to work out with Adam. I still felt sluggish as I always do in the morning, but yesterday afternoon, I'd say I was closer to 35%. So, that last herx must have really lowered my bacterial load!

My brain also worked, so I did filing and balanced some of our checkbook, which I hadn't done since October. I plan on balancing the rest of it when I'm done here. I also took my car to the carwash and gave it a detailed cleaning both inside and out.

Today I had a meeting at Chloe's school, then when I came home felt pretty good. I've always been a perfectionist about my house, but not since being ill. I did some straightening and organizing that I hadn't even cared about before ... maybe some of my "real" personality is returning.

I'm definately not 100%, but 35% is a far cry from 15%. So, the treatment is working!

I don't know how much the NT Factor for fatigue is contributing. At Chloe's school, I couldn't remember what month it was an had to ask .... but things are starting to get better.

Happy Birthday to us!!!

Well, it's been a year of much growth since this thread has started. Many have found answers to what was causing there health problems and are starting on the road to recovery.

We've learned a lot and will continue doing so......maybe more than we wanted to learn. :P

We've forged some good friendships along the way as well.

All in all, a very good year.....but the best is yet to come of we start regaining our health. :)

Carla, that is FANTASTIC!!!! I hadn't even got halfway through your post yet when I thought to myself "Carla sounds like she is feeling better", lol. I'm really impressed! Actually, at the moment, even though I am at work, it sounds like you got more accomplished than I have in months.

Don't you go to the doctor again soon?

I'm so happy for you. :D

Thanks.

"Sounds" better! :lol::lol:

If it weren't for the mornings, I'd say higher than 35%, but the mornings are very tough. For the average 44 year old, I MAY be "normal" ... it's amazing the ill health most people put up with. But I've always been very active/busy, so this is still far from normal for me.

I just need to be sure I still force myself to rest so this energy is used for healing!

YAY Carla....great news!! Next thing you know you'll be at 50% and then 75%...and then ALL BETTER. :D

'course it wont happen overnight but at least you're headed in the right direction and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. :)

I bet the sauna helped relieve you of some toxins and now you're feeling the benefits of having killed off some of those bugs. YAY!! :)

Yes, we leave on Sat. and don't come back till Thurs.

Because of all the travelling I was already doing this month, the doc said it was okay to come in next month instead. But I HAVE to go in next month.

I have more good news, on a different note. We've been trying to get into the rental business, but this is my "job", so we only have two rental houses right now. We were ready to buy more, but I obviously can't prepare them for renting ... usually it's a lot of work to renovate the houses (if they're in bad shape cosmetically, you get a good price).

A previous renter called two days ago and wondered if we had a house available. He took immaculate care last time and always paid his rent on time, but I had to tell him no, but I'd buy a house if he found one.

So, the next day, we find out we can buy the neighbor's house. They live in a big two bedroom (a mansion to those of you in CA! LOL). It is a tiny house, but big for a 2 brm. ... even has a full basement. It's a dollhouse right out of the history books. A bungalow with all the original woodwork with the original stain-- lots of built ins with leaded glass, etc. His daughter owns the house and is going to sell it to us for the balance on her note (under market), so we are hoping to rent it to our previous renter -- they still have to look at it. If he doesn't rent it, I know it will be easy to rent out, and it doesn't require the usual work.

So, that was exciting, too. I wanted to buy this house since the first time I saw the inside of it! Plus it's in the downtown area we are in and they're revitalizing downtown right now. Many of the houses are now commercial (ours could be, we just haven't gone to the trouble), so I think it may be a pretty lucrative investment in the long run.

I felt very sticky after the sauna. I had never felt that before. However, I had used a self-tanner two days before (I'm SO pale with being sick and having to avoid the sun because of the doxy and wanted a little color for Phoenix so I don't look sickly around all of Adam's business associates). I don't think the tanner would have caused that stickiness ... I was sticky yesterday, too. Maybe it's just some bad gunk finally coming out.

I've never gotten sticky from regular lotion, so I don't know why the tanner would be different. Normally I just feel water and oil.

AndreaB Contributor

Sounds like good news on all fronts Carla. :)

I'm off to play with a little boy that is bothering his older siblings trying to get into what they are doing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US! :D

Dear Carla,

It is good to hear the treatment is working! I bet that is nice to know your struggle has been worth the effort! The trip to the sauna should really help, too! That will be fun! We will be anxious to hear from you afterwards!

The house renting sounds really awesome. Some of those California houses are beautiful! The old Victorian ones are so huge and gorgeous! They are likely expensive, though. I would love a large house if I could afford one.

Dear Lisa,

I see you!

Hi girls and boys,

I am so sick of this and food intolerances, bladder pain, constipation, all this. I weigh 98 pounds now.

Well my naturopath called me yesterday and left a message. For those of you that know I took a mercury urine test with DMPS. She said that my mercury level was high. I called her back and told her I was taking seacure. She said even If I was eating fish and taking seacure that it still shouldn't

be as high as it is. Does this explain all of this that I am going through? She says now I need to go to a special dentist and fix my teeth. THen the dextoxing will start. Does this make sence or are my hope up high? Any opinion on this. I don't know if I want to start with dentist and stuff if this isn't

what is really making me sick. But then it couldn't hurt right?

Mercury toxicity can sure cause a lot of stuff that's for sure. I thought it was one of the main causes for my ongoing stuff so I just had all my amalgams taken out and replaced with composite fillings. I still don't know how much, if any, of my symptoms might be from mercury because I also have candida and possibly lyme.

Lisa,

Taking care of the amalgams needs to be done before detoxing. I don't know if you have a list of dentists that can help. I'm heading to get my teeth done this fall. Major undertaking for those of us who need it done....and expensive, but should be worth it.

Whether that is the cause for all you are going through I don't know. Have you been tested for everything else? Most people report to better well being after removal but not everyone.

yes I have to go to a special dentist. They only have one in Fresno. THank you

for the posting carla on the symptoms. I have tons of those. Ear ringing, constipation,

frequent urinating, cold hands and feet, low blood pressure and so on and so on.

I Don't know but can eating seasalt bring up mercury? I was using this when I took

the test and every day. I hope not. I don't want a false positive.

Donna posted the symptoms. :)

I get all the symptoms you describe from my Lyme Disease, but as Rachel has told us, many with Lyme have mercury problems. I don't test as having a big problem with mercury, but I do have a problem with lead.

I don't think seasalt would affect it the test.

Dear Lisa,

Candida often goes along with mercury poisoning. I am certain you have both. I am glad your test showed something! Those amalgams have to go! Metal seeps into your system, and you cannot detox without it!

Dear Carla,

Ohio probably has some nice places too! I bet they do! Some of their homes may be nicer than those in California. Gingerbread houses are not so bad! I think they are cute!

Lisa,

You do have amalgams which are leaky and you do have alot of symptoms to indicate that the amalgams could be poisoning you.

No matter what else might be going on I think its important to get the mercury taken care of. Make sure whoever you go to is using a protocol for safe removal so that you dont get worse.

If you have alot of fillings you shouldnt have them all taken out at once.....there is too much exposure that way.

Once you get all the fillings removed you can then do something about detoxing your body...or chelation. That was my mistake...I got everything taken out but then didnt do anything to address the mercury and other metals which are still in my body and still keeping me sick. :(

I didnt take the necessary steps to detox my body and my health did not improve.

Also...if you do have candida the primary reason for that would be mercury....so you would have to get rid of the mercury in order to get rid of the candida.

Does this explain all of this that I am going through?

Yeah...it could definately explain it. Mercury causes all kinds of problems and it also invites infections.

I dont think its as easy as taking the fillings out and everything goes back to normal....but absolutely removing the fillings is the biggest and most important step in the right direction.

Raising you vitamin D will increase absorption of calcium automatically without supplementation of calcium.  A high PTH can be caused by low D causing poor calcium absorption; not insuffient calcium intake.  With low D your body is not absorbing calcium from your food so it steals it from your bones.  Heart has priority over bone. I've been taking 10,000 IU D3 a day since 2015.  My doctor says to continue. To fix my lactose intolerance, lots of lactobacillus from yogurts, and brine fermented pickles and saurkraut and olives.  We lose much of our ability to make lactase endogenosly with maturity but a healthy colony of lactobacillus in our gut excretes lactase in exchange for room and board. The milk protein in grass fed milk does not bother me. It tastes like the milk I grew up on.  If I drink commercial milk I get heartburn at night. Some experts estimate that 90% of us do not eat Adequite Intake of choline.  Beef and eggs are the principle source. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern.  I take 600 mcg a day of Liquid Iodine.  It and NAC have accelerated my healing all over.  Virtually blind in my right eye after starting antihypertensive medication and vision is slowly coming back.  I had to cut out starches because they drove my glucose up into the 200+ range.  I replaced them with Red Bull for the glucose intake with the vitamins, minerals and Taurine needed to process through the mitochodria Krebs Cycle to create ATP.  Went from A1c 13 down to 7.9.  Work in progress. @catnapt, Wheat germ has very little gluten in it.  Gluten is  the carbohydrate storage protein, what the flour is made from, the fluffy part.  Just like with beans, there's the baby plant that will germinate  ("germ"-inate) if sprouted, and the bean part is the carbohydrate storage protein.   Wheat germ is the baby plant inside a kernel of wheat, and bran is the protective covering of the kernel.   Little to no gluten there.   Large amounts of lectins are in wheat germ and can cause digestive upsets, but not enough Gluten to provoke antibody production in the small intestines. Luckily you still have time to do a proper gluten challenge (10 grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks) before your next appointment when you can be retested.

Hello, @asaT, I'm curious to know whether you are taking other B vitamins like Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3.  Malabsorption in Celiac disease affects all the water soluble B vitamins and Vitamin C.  Thiamine and Niacin are required to produce energy for all the homocysteine lowering reactions provided by Folate, Cobalamine and Pyridoxine.   Weight gain with a voracious appetite is something I experienced while malnourished.  It's symptomatic of Thiamine B1 deficiency.   Conversely, some people with thiamine deficiency lose their appetite altogether, and suffer from anorexia.  At different periods on my lifelong journey, I suffered this, too.   When the body doesn't have sufficient thiamine to turn food, especially carbohydrates, into energy (for growth and repair), the body rations what little thiamine it has available, and turns the carbs into fat, and stores it mostly in the abdomen.  Consuming a high carbohydrate diet requires additional thiamine to process the carbs into energy.  Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white rice, etc.) don't contain thiamine, so the body easily depletes its stores of Thiamine processing the carbs into fat.  The digestive system communicates with the brain to keep eating in order to consume more thiamine and other nutrients it's not absorbing.   One can have a subclinical thiamine insufficiency for years.  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so the symptoms can wax and wane mysteriously.  Symptoms of Thiamine insufficiency include stunted growth, chronic fatigue, and Gastrointestinal Beriberi (diarrhea, abdominal pain), heart attack, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancer.   Thiamine improves bone turnover.  Thiamine insufficiency can also affect the thyroid.  The thyroid is important in bone metabolism.  The thyroid also influences hormones, like estrogen and progesterone, and menopause.  Vitamin D, at optimal levels, can act as a hormone and can influence the thyroid, as well as being important to bone health, and regulating the immune system.  Vitamin A is important to bone health, too, and is necessary for intestinal health, as well.   I don't do dairy because I react to Casein, the protein in dairy that resembles gluten and causes a reaction the same as if I'd been exposed to gluten, including high tTg IgA.  I found adding mineral water containing calcium and other minerals helpful in increasing my calcium intake.   Malabsorption of Celiac affects all the vitamins and minerals.  I do hope you'll talk to your doctor and dietician about supplementing all eight B vitamins and the four fat soluble vitamins because they all work together interconnectedly.

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind
