Ditto to that!!

Kassandra...you might be the toughest 17 year old I've ever "met". :)

I hope they can do something about the cramps. Sorry you're having to deal with that. :(

I'm glad that the med switch is going better for you...and yes, I'm crossing my fingers that NAET treatments will do you some good.

You just reminded me that Dr. Amy wanted me to go see Anna (BioSet) to check cortisol. I totally forgot about it! I was suppossed to get epinephrine checked as well.

Ditto to everything Kassandra. I'm being lazy and it's hubby's turn on the computer. I already took some time playing a game demo for the kids. :)

Good Morning!

About that light...what do you think about it working on someone who has nuero type side effects from having shingles. I have a customer coming in today and she told me all about this side effect from shingles. Some type of nuerological damage - it has made her spacy, forgetful and something about her eyes....not sure. I'll get more info today. She also said any type of air hitting her forehead gives her bad pain. She has had to go on disability recently.

I am thinking that the light might be helpful in healing the nerve function.

Another question....I am going to start my Enula soon to see what *little creatures* might be hanging out in my gut area.

If I DO have something....I would definately want to treat the kids. Has anyone ever heard of Kids taking Enula? I cannot find a lot of info when I try to research about it. Apparently the name of the herb was changed from Inula to Enula. Not sure.....I think I read that on Lymenet.

And would Bioset be a good way to help determine if this might be an issue?

I have access to a Bioset person - just not ART. Or what about Naet? Seems like Kassandra is having some good results from that so far. Which would be better? Bioset or Naet? I really don't know the difference at this point.

Well, BioSET can tell you for sure if there is a sensitivity to it. I was pleased with all my BioSET info, but I've not had Naet so can't compare.

In tears. does anyone know what else can cause kids to have bad teeth besides celiac. My youngest went tothe dentist today and has 4 cavities. My 7 yr old son just got back and needs teeth pulled and crowns on a few, plus he has some cavities. He was a preemie, so that might be part of it. My other 2 will be seen shortly today.

The kids brush their teeth daily and not that much sugar. Im thinking part of it is we no longer drink tap water and just bottled water. But i know there is more behind it then that. Im really afraid what the dentist is going to say about the other 2 today.

I wasnt sure if mold exposure could be a culprit, or if i do need to look into celiac with the kids now. I know they all have some symptoms but never enough to really freak me out, until today.

I just feel like a bad mom that they have so many teeth problems. I guess google wil be my friend today.

Well my 5 yr old just got back and she has no cavities. But she has bruxism. Im not sure if i take that is good or bad news lol. Ill be googling that to unless anyone knows anything about this lol

Paula, some people just have bad teeth. I have a daughter who has cavities in about every molar and I was the same way.

I had bruxism ... it was due to my bad bite. Now that I've had the bite fixed, I don't brux, although I do wear an appliance at night, so maybe I would without the appliance.

I would be careful using it on a customer since they are only FDA approved for various applications. Of course, it could be used for her "pain" and maybe will help with the other stuff.

I don't know if it would help or not .... it's safe though, so it can't hurt.

Thanks carla.

I have found lots of info on bruxism and parasites. He said there was nothing wrong at all with her bite, just she grinds. I have grinded my teeth all my life to.But i never worried about it til my daughter does it lol.

The dr is prescribing fluoride tablets for everyone. Does anyone know of side effects of this? I want to make sure im not doing more damage by giving them.

I have really good news. the dentist we went to, is a new one to us. And guess what. He lets u choose between mercury filing and the composites one. he is in the process of getting his removed. Once we are all done with the kids, guess who is going to get hers removed. Im so excited.

Paula,

Many things I have read about fluoride are awful, awful, awful. IMO I would not give the children fluoride. It is a nuerotoxin right along with the aluminum and mercury.

All of us are exposed to numerous sources of aluminum

Although I let my kids use flouride toothpaste I don't have them get the flouride treatments at the dentist. I would never in my wildest dreams take flouride in the pill form. I didn't even know they made it! :o

My understanding is that the flouride they found to help teeth was naturally found in a certain water supply and was a magnesium flouride. The flouride they use today is an aluminum bi-product. I did research on this at least 15 years ago, and I'm going off memory, so don't quote me on that, LOL.

Unfortunately, I have such bad tooth sensitivity, I have to use a commercial brand of toothpaste for sensitive teeth which has flouride ..... but I used no flouride toothpaste for years and tried to switch back. I can't even drink room temperature water if I don't use it.

confused Community Regular

Thanks andrea and carla.

He gave us the option of the pill or prescription toothpaste. Im wondering if the toothpaste would be better for them. My 8 yr old came home and he just has 2 small cavities and he said he wanted to seal his teeth. Im going to look that up and see if that is good or bad.

I wonder what else i could do to help them. Im wondering if adding tea tree oil would help at all. I know it will help with bacteria and fungal issues. So i guess it wouldnt hurt anything.

Being an parent is so hard, cause there are so many risk both ways. Who is going outside to breathe and come back and do some more researching lmao

I was going to give her the info and let her decide if she wants to try it. More like a "here's some other options out there if you decide its right for you" kind of thing.

Paula,

I have read so much bad on flouride even being in our toothpaste and water that I just don't know if taking tablet would be a good idea. There is a lot of info on it on Mercola.com.

You might consider giving them magnesium supplementation - this helps build healthy teeth and bones and helps calcium be absorbed in the diet. It could be this might be caused by malabsorption as a result of being exposed to fungus. Are they on any probiotics?

Another option is that the ph balance in the mouth could be to acidic. I have recently found that my enamel on my teeth is wearing. I haven't had any cavaties yet but could be more suseptible to them now. I did a lot of researching on how to build the enamel and healthy teeth. That's when I read about the magnesium and in some cases the ph balance needed to be corrected. Fungus causes an acidic ph in the body which I think is part of what was happening to me since I had such bad candida for so long.

I am pretty sure sealants are okay. I had one of those one time. It wears off eventually, but it protects the tooth in the meantime. It must have worked because I didn't have any issues with that tooth later on.

aprilh Apprentice

Paula,

If you could get them in with a biological dentist they may be able to test the ph balance in the mouth and see what might be going on. However, with all of the mold issues - i would tend to think its more "gut" related - like malabsorption. That can be reversed but it'll take some work getting all the kids to take probiotics and magnesium! :). I am always giving my kids something to take - they are used to it I think.

CarlaB Enthusiast

Sealants can be good or bad (for the teeth, from the health perspective they're fine). Research them. My son had his fail, but the other kids had good results. They shouldn't be used across the board, but for certain applications, they are excellent.

Paula...say NO to flouride!! I definately wouldnt take those pills.

Like Andrea said...its BAD....its all bad.

I dont wanna sound dramatic but flouride is TOXIC.

I totally avoid it ever since I fist got sick....I only buy toothpaste that is flouride-free. I was reacting to the ones with flouride which is why I switched long before I knew it was toxic.

I found some things that kind of caught my attention...

This is regarding glutathione deficiency and leaky gut...

Mercury inhibits the synthesis of glutathione, and depletes glutathione, a very important compound used by the body for excreting mercury, immune function, and protecting many chemical functions in the body.

When mercury inhibits glutathione production, your body has lost it's best defense for excreting poisons, mercury and all others.

UGGHHH!!! This is what confuses the crap out of me. You would think that the people who need glutathione the most could tolerate it, but no, that is not the case.

Maybe you have to get a whole lot more mercury out and let the body readjust, before you/we could ever tolerate glutathione.

So much to think about. I still have the mercury filling. I have never used these biological dentists and I have no way to know if I can trust them.

All of this wouldn't be so aggravating if my vanity wasn't also involved. As long as I have a detox problem, a mercury problem, I will never be able to take the proper T3 thyroid medication that I need. As I eat next to nothing and am gaining a pound a week.

Does ALA chelate mercury?

And Carla- did you ever ask Dr. H if it was OK to take ALA with Mepron?

Carla- do you think removing the bartonella from the GI has rid you of your food intolerances?

Does it sound right....even though my porphyrin test was negative?? What do you guys think?

Most of my tests come back showing next to nothing starting from the Lyme tests to my vitamin defiencies (except selenium and Vit D) to amino acids to my adrenal tests. I still pay very close attention to the subtle irregularities (highs, lows and out of range) because even though they come back lackluster as I call it, that is where the problems are even though they barely show in tests.

So yes it does make sense to me. Despite all of our problems, in some ways we may have very strong immune systems.

And also I try to remember that when we have a health issue, by the time it shows up in a test, it has been around for a long time!

About the bruxism...I had it REALLY bad. Never in my life did I ever clench or grind until after my dental work...when all of the symtpoms hit. I had to wear a guard for awhile. Its definately better now....I stopped grinding once I changed my diet and got some things under control.

I think it has to do with stress...my body was under alot of stress from whatever issues I was having after the mercury exposure.

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Maybe you have to get a whole lot more mercury out and let the body readjust, before you/we could ever tolerate glutathione.

I think in my case I have to build some things up first...I have alot of deficiencies. Also, if sulfur metabolism is dysfunctional (and I believe it is) I wouldnt really be tolerating glutathione. There are different things that can cause this...mercury being one of them. Another is copper...because it is an antagonist to molybdemun. If molybdenum is low....sulfur metabolism may be impaired.

Does ALA chelate mercury?

I would not use ALA alone in an attempt to chelate mercury. In combination with other chelators/binders it can be used (if tolerated) and when under the care of a knowledgeable Dr. Otherwise, I wouldnt mess with it...it may cross the blood brain barrier...which is not something you wanna do at this stage.

I have not taken ALA.

And also I try to remember that when we have a health issue, by the time it shows up in a test, it has been around for a long time!

The porphyrin test I mentioned is specifically for identifying toxicity as a result of mercury, arsenic or lead. The toxicity does not have to be around for a long time in order for this test to be positive.

Nanjkay Apprentice
You just have to find what works for you. I cant remember if you have anyone available to do energetic testing?

I think its more common that people are having difficulty with detoxification and thinking that its a herx. If you're not killing off any bugs then its not really a herx.

Sometimes we can feel bad starting out with something that is actually helping us.....thats more of a "healing crisis".

I had a healing crisis when I first changed my diet....I thought I was dying....then all the "clouds" parted and I felt great after having been really sick for 2 years.

If the clouds dont part...and you just continue to feel bad...then probably whatever you're doing is causing a great deal of stress.

Thanks Rachel-

This helps but I still have this lurking fear about the horrible side effects I got when trying to "detox". That was before i started treating the Lyme and while I was taking B12 shots - so maybe it would be different now. I was giving myself a methylation problem from too many B12 shots.

And no, I have not found an ART person...I have done a lot of leg work, but to no avail. I went to Healingwell.com and they gave me a name but she has not responded and another website which is DR. Kl's website. What iis the deal with the east coast? You know, years ago someone I freelanced with gave me a name but I don't have it anymore. Boy what I would do for that name now. I know Kassandra goes to someone..where is she?

Oh dear

The word is MANY talents, such as pizza making, zeolite selling, and film critiquing, just to name a few.

My apologies to Lisa  (my typing can be atrocious, lots of typos  )

Yes, Dan In Real Life is definitely one to add to your collection Rachel. Don't you think it was such a cute feel good movie?? Made me feel all fuzzy and warm inside, and Steve Carell cracks me up! When he was dancing in the bar I was laughing hysterically, almost crying :lol:

Speaking of typing, I do it differently too. Not with one finger, but I have to look at the keys, something about how my brain is wired I think, I can't look away from them and see them in my mind. When I played the flute when I was younger I had to write out all the notes, I couldn't read the note fast enough and compute in my brain what note to play, if that even makes sense....

You all crack me up. This exchange above, could be in a movie, it is that good!!! I can't believe you guys type so well with less then 10 fingers..amazing. BTW, as a part time thing, I write a movie recommendation article for a local paper, so I watch up to 10 movies a week depending on when the article is due. I just watched Mad Money - it was really cute. I loved Music and Lyrics also, mainly because Hugh Grant can do NO wrong in my book. I did see the new Batman and I thought it was too long and I didn't care about the characters or what happened to them. The action was good, but it was too depressing. I liked Iron Man much better. I can't wait to see Tropic Thunder with Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr.

I agree, it so often overlooked! I live in the UK and I have often wondered why doctors are so reluctant to at least exclude it - my thoughts are perhaps the particular tests are expensive for the NHS, so therefore saved for people with 'obvious' symptoms.  I was diagnosed in 2013 and was told immediately that my parents, sibling and children should be checked.  My parents' GP to this day has not put forward my father for testing, and my mother was never tested in her lifetime, despite the fact that they both have some interesting symptoms/family history that reflect they might have coeliac disease (Dad - extreme bloating, and his Mum clearly had autoimmune issues, albeit undiagnosed as such; Mum - osteoporosis, anxiety).  I am now my father' legal guardian and suspecting my parents may have forgotten to ask their GP for a test (which is entirely possible!) I put it to his last GP that he ought to be tested.  He looked at Dad's blood results and purely because he was not anemic said he wasn't a coeliac.  Hopefully as the awareness of Coeliac Disease spreads among the general public, people will be able to advocate for themselves.  It is hard because in the UK the NHS is very stretched, but the fallout from not being diagnosed in a timely fashion will only cost the NHS more money. Interestingly, a complete aside, I met someone recently whose son was diagnosed (I think she said he was 8).  At a recent birthday party with 8 guests, 4 boys out of the 8 had received diagnosis of Coeliac Disease, which is an astounding statistic  As far as I know, though, they had all had obvious gastric symptoms leading to their NHS diagnosis.  In my own case I had  acute onset anxiety, hypnopompic hallucinations (vivid hallucinations upon waking),  odd liver function, anxiety, headaches, ulcers and low iron but it wasn't until the gastric symptoms hit me that a GP thought to do coeliac testing, and my numbers were through the roof.  As @trents says, by the grace of God I was diagnosed, and the diet has pretty much dealt with most of those symptoms.  I have much to be grateful for. @xxnonamexx, There's labeling on those Trubar gluten free high fiber protein bars that say: "Manufactured in a facility that also processes peanuts, milk, soy, fish, WHEAT, sesame, and other tree nuts." You may want to avoid products made in shared facilities.   If you are trying to add more fiber to your diet to ease constipation, considering eating more leafy green vegetables and cruciferous vegetables.  Not only are these high in fiber, they also are good sources of magnesium.  Many newly diagnosed are low in magnesium and B vitamins and suffer with constipation.  Thiamine Vitamin B1 and magnesium work together.  Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine has been shown to improve intestinal health.  Thiamine and magnesium are important to gastrointestinal health and function.

Welcome to celiac.com @sha1091a! Your experience is a very common one. Celiac disease is one the most underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed medical conditions out there. The reasons are numerous. One key one is that its symptoms mimic so many other diseases. Another is ignorance on the part of the medical community with regard to the range of symptoms that celiac disease can produce. Clinicians often are only looking for classic GI symptoms and are unaware of the many other subsystems in the body that can be damaged before classic GI symptoms manifest, if ever they do. Many celiacs are of the "silent" variety and have few if any GI symptoms while all along, damage is being done to their bodies. In my case, the original symptoms were elevated liver enzymes which I endured for 13 years before I was diagnosed with celiac disease. By the grace of God my liver was not destroyed. It is common for the onset of the disease to happen 10 years before you ever get a diagnosis. Thankfully, that is slowly changing as there has developed more awareness on the part of both the medical community and the public in the past 20 years or so. Blessings!

@EndlessSummer, You said you had an allergy to trees.  People with Birch Allergy can react to green beans (in the legume family) and other vegetables, as well as some fruits.  Look into Oral Allergy Syndrome which can occur at a higher rate in Celiac Disease.   Switching to a low histamine diet for a while can give your body time to rid itself of the extra histamine the body makes with Celiac disease and histamine consumed in the diet.   Vitamin C and the eight B vitamins are needed to help the body clear histamine.   Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?

I found out the age of 68 that I am a celiac. When I was 16, I had my gallbladder removed when I was 24 I was put on a medication because I was told I had fibromyalgia.   going to Doctor’s over many years, not one of them thought to check me out for celiac disease. I am aware that it only started being tested by bloodwork I believe in the late 90s, but still I’m kind of confused why my gallbladder my joint pain flatulent that I complained of constantly was totally ignored. Is it not something that is taught to our medical system? It wasn’t a Doctor Who asked for the test to be done. I asked for it because of something I had read and my test came back positive. My number was quite high. Are there other people out here that had this kind of problems and they were ignored?
