Please Help With This Constipation

I have had a lifetime of C, my mom told me I was born with C! I was given every type of supplement known to man to treat the C, did enema after enema, colonics, I even went to a holy woman to try to clear the blockage I was that desperate.

I couldn't do psyllium or flax seed because I was highly allergic to both substances and they really irritated my intestinal lining. I pretty much gave up. This was just last year.

I don't know what happened because I am regular now. I haven't really changed my diet I just added in the magnesium citrate.

Is this magnesum going to be absorbed through the intestines, or do I need to be searching for a sublingual version?

Hi Sherri:

Oral magnesium supplements worked for me and others. It may take awhile to restore really low magnesium levels. However you should see some improvement soon. Take Mg in divided doses with meals. Taking too much all at once may increase gas and bloating. The idea is to slowly increase the amount in your bones and muscles. The body will slough off excesses of some supplements. When you get too much Mg, you will get diarrhea. That will tell you to back off a little.

I want to second all that Burdee said, very good advice!

Monica, if you happen to be casein intolerant, then yes, even a little bit will harm you, just like with gluten. You might not get very obvious symptoms, but it could just be enough to keep you constipated.

I'm not a big fan of neat goats milk either, but I like goats cheese. And I only eat that in moderation.

I am doing better for the past two days. WHich is like a miracle. I am taking quite a few supplements, which I have done before, but I am being consistent. Where do you get Mag. citrate. I have a mag and calcium supplement called "BOne Up" and it says protects colorectal health on the bottle. I am taking Probiotics without Dairy in them. The other one's I had, had lactose in them. I cut back on dairy, but haven't eliminated it, because I am doing 100% better right now. My only thing now is that I would like to go off of Prilosec for heartburn. I have only been on it for a week now, but I don't like taking drugs of any kind.

I read somewhere that orange peel extract can "cure" heartburn. It was very expensive for 10 pills, but it has a patent on it and I read it really works. I hope it does.

Of course I am afraid to quit drinking citrucel. I tried some other fiber pills, but had stomach cramps lastnight. I can't seem to handle flaxseeds and Psyllium either. It seems to tear up my intestines.

I haven't read alot about casein intolerance, so I don't know much about it at all. I never had a problem until a year ago, but I do think the celiac has caused me many other problems and food intolerances.

Thanks for all the advice. Where can I read about casein inolerance??

I just get my mag citrate caps at the health food store.

Heartburn is a whole other story. It is interesting how many people in this celiac community alone have this problem. It seems like from all the posts it is a VERY large percentage. I was having severe reflux in the last year or so and it seems to be under control now after changing my diet. Big triggers for me are dairy, sugar, corn and corn derivatives.

Glad you are doing a little better :)

Thanks rmj when I first rang up it was we can't do it without , but I talked to a lovely lady and she sorted it all out for me, so it pays to be persistent , I would have had to decline if I hadn't been given the water option too , so yes I'm glad too 😌

I’m so glad they listened to your concerns!  I hope you get some answers from the MRI.

Had my MRI today I didn't have to have the manitol with my allergy's , I just had a litre of water , they were great with my concerns , so let's see if anything comes of if will keep posted once I have results 👍

Thank you ,it’s been a long road for me for having both now ,what upsets the most is that if they discovered that I also have cealiac earlier I would not have injested gluten if I was aware. Double whammy.
