I Got Asked The Strangest Question..

Last night I was over at my aunties and uncles, along with a lot of other people, so I was drinking my gluten-free beer of course.

One of the guys, who already had more than enough to drink, asked me the weirdest question ever, but in the same way, a good question

He asked me...if you get drunk on gluten-free beer, would you have the same type of hangover as you'd get from drinking normal beer??

..not that I'll try it to find that answer haha

Hangovers are caused by dehydration, vitamin depletion (the body trys to rid itself of the alcohol and takes alot more with it) and are influenced by the sugar content of the alcohol, as the body tries to deal with that as well.

The gluten-free beers I've seen seem to have more sugar (in the form of mollases or honey) content than regular beers, and so might give you a worse hangover!

Drink lots of water to help your body flush the alcohol and take a multi-vitamin and your hangovers (if you ever get there) will never be as bad as thiers.

At college, we always had a water monitor when people were drinking. (I usually played water girl, and pushed water on people as they were drinking, and after they were done drinking. Lots of water, throughout the night.) Almost no one ever had a hangover, and when they did, it's because they weren't drinking water. Even if someone had drunk too much, and was huggin' the toilet, I'd still be bringing them water. (Alternating with Gatorade or a vitamin-water would be better, but we didn't think of that seven years ago.)

How on earth can I get Gluten free beer here in Mj? Do I have to go to Regina to get it or can my local liquor board store get it in for me? WHich one is it?

The strange thing is, back in college in my pre-gluten-free days, I knew beer made me sicker than other alcohol. Makes sense now. I drank rum or tequila back then. Strange that I went for the stuff I can have.

Pre-gluten-free I drank lots of beer and I would get 48 hour hangovers. I had no idea it was the gluten. Now I drink gluten-free beer and no hangover, just an empty wallet. LOL

This is about how I would feel, and it wouldn't take much beer either!!! I learned that I could tolerate rum and tequila. If I could have just learned that pizza was making me ill, that would have helped even more!

Me neither, I would get a horrible hangover from two beers. If only I knew a decade ago (or more) what I know now. I loved the taste of beer and bread, now that I think about it.

Ryan, you can order it at your local liquor board store. Mine here in Canora have been doing it ever since it existed lol. And I'm the only one here who drinks it! La Messagere is the name of it. Takes a few beers to get used to, but now I can down them like any other drink lol

When I was working in certain dry countires we used to make beer from a german baby suppliment which was basically malted corn and every time I went back to the UK and drank beer I got the worst hangovers after 1-2 pints...

I used to wonder why I would get a hangover even if I drank non-alcoholic beer, and one grain vodka drink would send me to never never land. Since diagnosis I drink wine and potato vodka and have never had a trace of a hangover.
