I ate one the other day and boy oh boy did I get ill - can anyone confirm that these do in fact have gluten or did I get it elsewhere? I have yet to hear back from the manufacturer, Jelsert.

Thanks

I thought these were ok but I looked again after reading your post and it says:

The following Jel Sert products do not contain Wheat or Corn Gluten:

Mondo Fruit Squeezers

Fla-Vor-Ice Freezer Bars

Fla-Vor-Ice Lite Freezer Bars

Fla-Vor-Plus Freezer Bars

Pop Ice Freezer Bars

Otter Pops Freezer Bars

Otter Pops Plus Freezer Bars

Keebler Fudge Shoppe Freezer Bars

Wyler’s Italian Ice Freezer Bars

Wyler’s Light Sorbet Bars

Royal Puddings and Gelatins

Royal Flan

My*T*Fine Vanilla Pudding

My*T*Fine Lemon Pudding

My*T*Fine Pumpkin Pudding

My*T*Fine Tiramisu Pudding

Wyler’s Light Sugar-Free Powdered Soft Drinks

Wyler’s Powdered Soft Drinks

Flavor Aid Powdered Soft Drinks

Hawaiian Punch Drink Mixes

I didn't notice before, but it says do not contain wheat or corn gluten. So maybe it has something else, like barley?

I didn't eat these but my kids have and have not noticed any symptoms.

Let us know what your hear.

Thank you - may I ask where you found that info? I poured over their website and came up with nothing! Once I hear a response I will let you know...I can't think of what else it may have been.

Thanks again!

As far as I know they are gluten-free, and I have not heard of anyone reacting to them. They are bascily sugar, water and dyes... not much to mess up one would think. :)

I couldn't find it when I just looked at their site but I googled "fla vor ice gluten" and that page on their website came up.

I find it interesting however that they say do not contain "wheat" and there is no reference to gluten.

I did have another go at it and my belly didn't hurt.

It must have been something else!

A product like this is not going to have barley, IMO.

Sorry, I think I got you mixed up with another poster.

I hadn't been eating gluten free before having the antibody test done. I started eating gluten free after having the test done because the gastro PA told me to eat gluten-free for 6 months. I'm now 3 months in.

I tend to agree with RMJ. Your doc took the reasonable and practical approach to diagnosis. All things considered, it was the right way to go. However, if you have first degree relatives that show signs of possible celiac disease, urge them to get formally tested before they start the gluten free diet.

It sounds like you have a very reasonable GI doctor, who diagnosed you based on family history and symptoms after eating gluten. I would consider you lucky! The other option would be to make yourself very sick by doing weeks of a gluten challenge prior to an endoscopy.

Hi Colleen H,   I suffered with the pins and needles/burning feeling in my legs and feet for at least  6 years until my Nephrologist figured out that I had to go on a low salt diet.  He said my kidneys weren't strong enough to remove the salt.  The simple fix was a diuretic, but that med leaves the uric acid behind, so that wasn't an option.  On the bright side the low salt diet lowered my BP over 20 points and and the pins and needles/burning feeling went away.  Good Luck and hope this helps.
