Hello All

Again...a newbie here...Newly diagnosed and Still learing....today...put on one of my favorite lotions and my hand started getting red. I was like what the heck is this. Then I am glancing at the ingredients....Wheat Germ, canola oil etc etc....then I washed my hand intesely and the redness is fading.

Is this possible it could have affected me this way???

I also switched shampoos and my scalp broke out...the same stuff as before.....when it broke out but never thought anything of it. Are there some ingredients in shampoos/lotions I should be avoiding.....???

Help the newbie.....

Oh...and then I was eating mashed potatoes and learned the mono and di glycerides are derived from Palm oil and unless in a dedicated facility could cause problems??? Any thoughts or experience on that too??

Thanks everyeone....lsoing my mind here.

Welcome!

Shampoos and conditioners with wheat or barley make my scalp break out in a rash. It's also a bad idea to use hand lotion with wheat/gluten even if it doesn't bother your hands since it's likely to get in your mouth.

I don't worry about oils and have never had a problem with them that I am aware of.

I'm sure others will chime in with more ideas.

Yep, I have to avoid all the shampoos, conditioners, soaps etc. with wheat germ oil, barley extract or oat bran (plus all the ones high in salicylates, but that's another story). They will cause hives and rashes and insane itching.

I guess it's time you looked for new personal care products!

Interesting, when I suffered for a few months with ectopics I noticed that carbohydrates would cause indigestion and bloating in my stomach, then that would lead to my heart skipping beats, and I could feel it in my throat, it was very unsettling.  My last serious bout of this was after eating a Muller Rice Pudding for breakfast.   I happened to be wearing a 48 hour halter at the time and cardiology picked it up, but they weren't worried about what they saw. There was some British doctor who'd made some videos on the Vagus nerve that I remember watching at the time which made sense of what I was experiencing, there did seem to be some sort of connection.

I asked my cardiologist about stopping vitamins.  He said his tests account for all detectable vitamins from sources other than food.  I only need to stop them for a couple of days.  He has me keep records of meds and vitamins I've ingested over the past 10 days and prior and he does his calculations.

Reply to treats I try and eat to bring up the glucose. Sometime I get up 3 times a night and eat something. I don't think food is the issue. A lot of the food they say should help doesn't.  Many mornings my level is 59 and I feel sick, sometimes for hours. It has been recommended I go to an Endocrinologist.
