I'm getting a tattoo in September, and (don't laugh) other than the obvious health concerns, I don't need to worry about the gluten thing since I'm not eating this...right? :blink:

Nope, no gluten in tattoo inks. Just chemical pigments :P

And unless you're tattooing your small intestine, you're fine. :)

Hey LA, I posted a similar question back in April when I got my tattoo (what are you getting, if you don't mind me asking??)

Anyway, the balm they recommended had wheat in it, so I didn't get it (I'm notorious for putting my hands constantly in my mouth because I am always baking or eating... haha, so I never, ever use creams and what not.) Anyway, I used Vitamin E (they recommended that as a 'second')... so if you do watch your creams, you might want to keep that in mind.

Hi Lorka: Thanks for the tip on the cream--will make sure mine is gluten-free. I'm having a saying done in Tengwar script. My Grampa always used to tell me "God bless, God speed lass". So I'm having that done--just can't figure out where to put it. :rolleyes: L.A.

i was wondering the same thing, glad you posted the ? true about the creams, i just had a butterfly done and the cream they gave me made it sore so i switched to good old vaseline and hemaroid cream, its sounds funny but its the best for healing that ive found. good luck with the tat and enjoy.

Hey Lorka: Just did a reply and it was lost in cyber space so if two show up...Anyway, I'm pretty excited--I go tonite for the consultation. Nice to bump into a fellow Canadian :) L.A.

No worries.... my daughter has Celiac and she got a tattoo last February.... and it's SO PRETTY!! But she was worried like you so she had them use black... no colors.

It was noted that some people can become allergic to certain colors.

I'm sticking to black ink also :) Thanks for the info. L.A.

actually come to think of it all my tats are black and the one i had an irritation with was the coloured butterfly! crazy but true.

      I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

      Yarrow Pom works really well with the skin issues I found out.I had to stop so my doterra because dealing with medical celiac circus. I had shingles in Feb 2023. Prayers for healing

      I hope you are on the mend soon. About 1 in 5 people who contracted chicken pox as a child go on to develop shingles in later life - it is not uncommon. There are 5 known members of the herpes virus family including chicken pox that commonly infect humans, and they all cause lifelong infections. The exact cause of viral reactivation as in the case of shingles or cold sores is not well understood, but stress, sunburn and radiotherapy treatment are known triggers. Some of the herpes viruses are implicated in triggering autoimmune diseases: Epstein-Barr virus is suspected of triggering multiple sclerosis and lupus, and there is a case where it is suspected of triggering coeliac disease. As to whether coeliac disease can increase the likelihood of viral reactivation, there have been several cohort studies including a large one in Sweden suggesting that coeliac disease is associated with a moderate increase in the likelihood of developing shingles in people over the age of 50.
