Lister, this guy, Jordan S. Rubin, had a lot of health problems similar to yours. Docs couldn't help him. Google his name and you'll find more about him, but here's an article that I found. He talks about leaky gut. They don't actually test for it as far as I know, and I would be shocked if you didn't have it. Most of us do!! Open Original Shared Link

Yes, Leaky Gut would cause all of these problems--and more. I truly believe that it is behind my food intolerances. I can not tolerate proteins from plant sources at all. Only meats. The lectins--plants that have both protein and carbohydrates are the very ones that give me problems.

The link that Carla gave is great--I would suggest printing it off. Something that you're eating, I feel, is preventing you from feeling better--

What treatment for leaky gut have you started? The only treatment I find helpful is eliminating the things that cause reactions. When the gut is 'leaky' due to damage from Celiac, for example, the tight spaces around the cells lining the intestine become farther apart and allow undigested proteins into the bloodstream--where they are seen as invaders. Foods that can cause this reaction are dairy, soy and other legumes, corn, coconut and gluten.

When these troublesome foods are discontinued, the gut can begin to heal. We may be able to eat some of these foods (not gluten) again in the future.

You're probably just getting better. You'll have good days and bad ... someday the good will outnumber the bad!

Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

I don't live in the US, but based on this thread, I wouldn't risk it:   https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/comments/1n2ehw8/cracker_barrel/   This app is helpful: https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/

I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
