Lister, the medical community is not nearly as well educated as we like to think. The average MD would not think to look for yeast because they are never taught the damaging effects of yeast overgrowth. In fact most doctors will tell you that it is all a myth and that yeast cannot cause such symptoms. The doctors never found it in me while I complained for 10 years. It was friends who turned me on to the idea, and it was friends who helped me to get better. NOT ONE doctor ever made me feel better!! The doctors can say its BS, but I know what I did and I know what made me get my life back.

Try fighting the yeast. it won't hurt you to try it. It will make you feel pretty miserable as the yeast dies off, this is called a Herxheimer effect, "Herx" for short. But nothing that I am suggesting is going to physically damage you. If you don't try it you will never know.

BTW the white coating on your toungue is often refered o as "thrush" commonly found in newborns. Thrush is nothing more than YEAST! As any doctor will tell you.

Here is a thread that was on the forum about candida: http://www.glutenfreeforum.com/lofiversion...php/t21523.html

You shouldn't eat starchy veggies (potato) or fruit (banana, fruit juice) because it feeds the yeast. I'd also avoid the bbq sauce because it has sugar. You might try something else to keep your BM's regular as cereal is usually pretty refined. Basically, eat meat, eggs and veggies.

Lots of garlic and onions are important. I actually take a garlic supplement. And lots of coconut oil. You can buy a yeast cleanse supplement at the health food store if you want a little extra push to get rid of it.

Trust me, I know, I did it for 6 months! Even now my doc has me eating just meat, eggs, and veggies -- I actually DREAM about coffee!!!! If I make it one more week on this horrible diet, I'm having a cup of coffee with a gluten-free donut (okay, maybe 1/4 of a donut) next Sunday!! I've been doing this for a month.

Yes it pretty much sucks, but the rewards are worth it! Cut out your juice and stick to just plain old water. Get a refridgerated acidophilus and take it 3 times a day. This won't help your C so you will want to beef up on leafy green veggies as much as possible. They are much better for you than the potatos and it should help to keep you moving. Load up on garlic and onions with your meats, as Carla said. You should start to notice a difference within a week, but if you don't, you can always request some Diflucan from your doc to get you jumpstarted.

Best of luck!! : )

The reality of it is different for each person. I was not very good about sticking to the diet after a few months. I would eat something sweet and follow it with a probiotic pill to try to help battle the yeast as I ate something with sugar. To be honest, that doesn't work!! I have been fighting my candida for well over a year and I have not completely won the battle and don't know that I ever will. I think once the immune system is comprimised that much it is a lifelong struggle to maintain a balance in your system. I know people who are religious about the diet and they continue to feel energetic and healthy every day. If they slip up at a party or something then they start to immediately feel the effects. but its not like that for everyone.

If I recall, you said you did not test positive for celiac, is that right? If that is the case, then you can take Fungal Defense followed by Primal Defense. If you do the fungal defense program every 6 months and live on the primal defense the rest of the time, it will really help keep your system in check. That's one way to do it, or you could just do a cleansing fast every 6 months. You'll be able to eat more and better as you start winning the fight, but you will always have to be aware of what your body is telling you.

There are also other products out there, Lister, that are gluten-free. The products Kris mentions are great and I used them both myself, but they are not gluten-free, as she mentioned. Go to a good health food store and talk to the people there, they will be a bigger help as you will be there in person.

I did the anti-candida diet for six months, then I could "cheat" once in a while and feel fine. But I had eliminated all carbs except for veggies for a solid six months with no cheating at all. Once or twice a week I would have a small amount of a carb - like rice or potato -- or I started feeling bad. I was very severe with it.

Don't underestimate the value of garlic (I take pills) and coconut oil!!

At least get the probiotics. Take them aggressively (maximum dosage, or more). I would get one that has more than one type of bacteria. They can help you more at the health food store.

Getting of sugar is critical, too.

anyone here have normal bowl habbits? the reason i am asking is im trying to figure out if im sick with something or if this is normal and that i am maving a improvement? or maybe a side effect from adding garlic to diet

but like 3 times now i keep getting shooting pain from my rectum, i rush to the bathroom and have a fairly large bm, its not all celiac disease up like usual instead its soft but still full form, but it comes out really fast with no pressure needed... is this diaraeha? or does it have to be watery to be diaiha, also it makes the water turn very cloudy (maybe yeast?) srry i know im disqgusteing just had to ask i have been wondering all day

Pepto Bismal the pink liquid is gluten-free. For me when I get gluten related stomach pain if helps a great deal. It will make your stool dark so don't get upset if take it and notice this effect, it is normal.

Very good advice, but I don't think it will fix all ... and in a month ... but it would help. Digestive enzymes help you to digest your food better. With your system being in bad shape, you may be lacking the enzymes for proper digestion. Breathing will help with your anxiety.

How's your sister doing?
