Mixed Tocopherols/ Vit E-derived From Wheat Germ?

Hi all!

Does anyone know if when "mixed tocopherols" are listed as an ingredient, which I think is Vit E, if they are necessarily derived from wheat germ? Waiting to hear back from a company on this, but I think I read something somewhere that said this was from wheat germ. I hope not 'cause I've probably glutened myself with SunGold Sunbutter! Thanks for any help!

lisa

I don't know about that, but I can tell you that when I was taking mixed tocopherols as a supplement, I found them ineffective, while the d-alpha ones were effective.

Vitamin E can be derived from soy as well... you have to ask the manufacturer to be sure.

Thank you both! They just called me to let me know it's derived from soy. (another thing I'm avoiding) But I'm hoping a trace amount won't bother me. The woman from SunGold foods was VERY kind and listened closely to what I told her about the nature of celiac and gluten intolerance. She said she was very happy to research it because it's something she really needs to know about. So, Yay!!!!!

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
