and OMG!!!!!!!!!!! :o I am surprisingly upset and saddened at the assassination of Benazir Bhutto!!!!!!!!!

I am a little :o surprised to see it mentioned here, but earlier was telling my sister how, for something 1/2 a world away, this single death saddened me more than I expected.

It's a blow to humanity.

Remember, there were attempts on her 1st day back also.

Not trivial at all! a life was taken.....and yesterday, a life was GIVEN to your family! congratulations!!!!!!

Gluten-free does not mean inedible, and Rob and Alan were the proof. On a subliminal level they knew about my dietary needs, but when they ate "my" food they did not notice that is was different. :rolleyes:

Um.........SHORTBREAD?????!!!!!!!!! WHAT??????? you have GOT to share this recipe!!!!!!! I miss shortbread, and all the butter cookies, so badly...... :(

would LOVE to know what your wife did with the gravy. Mine is.......random, at best, and I know I contributed to that thread....... :lol:

Ah, Good Mornin', Sillies!

The hectic holidays continue...relatives coming and going, carrying out pop-ins if they are not already staying here. Got glutened at my sister's last evening. Bah.

My gravy was surpisingly fantastic, and I did not even see said thread! Just tackled it as if it were regular gravy-making, but substituted the wheat flour for my gluten-free mix (rice, potato flour, bit of xanthan gum). I was astounded. Likely everyone else was, as well. <_<

Bhutto's assassination...I felt it all day, as well. It's all so far from Silly, but we must mention it if we feel it as I have. I am actually very surprised that this did not happen long ago, and that she lasted as long as she did back in public life. What shall transpire now...? ...

Back to silly! Going to look for our yeti. Think he's repairing our front step...

I remember a discussion quite a while back about worchestershire sauce, and how difficult it was to find a safe one in Canada. I'll bet Peter remembers the details better than I do....

My gravy is no different than it ever was since I use cornstarch :lol:

Now, how did ya get the Yeti to do your steps? All he wanted to do around here was eat and watch TV :P

Incredible.

All the talk w/ sis is "wake her 15min before we go", but somehow well after *I* think she's waking the kids, she's thinking she's still waiting for some signal from ME to say "yes, ok, let's go". WTH is w/ THAT???? :angry:

Throw in some insane 5:15am airport crowd and I can't get to the front of the line in time. :(

Now I'm stuck for 3 more hrs, waiting on a p.o.s. little jet - the EXACT plane type that made me book this 6:15 flight in order to AVOID! :angry:

My back has already started hating me in anticipation of the smaller seats and even less legroom of the little plane. :(

Bah holiday travel.

But ahhh . ... .soon Home Sweet Home :)

Oh Patti, I was all out of it, the first thing after I clock in every morning is jump on the board. Not only did I fall asleep early last night (9:45) watching TV and Lucky didn't help since he was curled up next to me....so I didn't get on the board much last night. Now this morning our net is down...Sheesh!

But beyond getting on the board, there are work things we need on the net and when it is down that work sits!

It's quite astonishing...He cleaned up ALL the Christmas dinner plates (was very well-behaved at the dinner table--sat beside my dad, nodding politely at all his jokes), then pulled all the neighboUrhood kids around the block on their toboggans, some hanging off his neck...but the BEST:

He was downstairs for quite some time, and eventually I hear a loud dragging noise and the garage door opening. I'm thinking, "Gawd, he's dragging a corpse into the house". But no. He was dragging something outside...my DH's famous hockey bag. He was scrubbing the equipment with our steel wool and brushes. Now, you know a smell is bad, i.e., close to involving the Public Health Board, when a yeti cannot stand it!

So, all is very good...

My fiance's sister had a baby boy, Joshua, yesterday. He is beautiful and such a Christmas blessing! Ryan's other nieces and nephew call me Auntie Alex and I can't wait until we're married and I'm officially their aunt.

It's hard to resist cuddling with my furball too. He keeps me warm and sometimes he kneeds his paws into my back so it is like having a massage too.

OMG - - I have a canker sore on the side of my tongue......major speech impediment - - way too painful to talk!!!!!!!!!! good Lord - any help for this? My college roommate, the very tame and proper mother of three, told me to get quite drunk. :lol: Well, I suppose at least in that case it wouldn't BOTHER me so much....... :blink:

      Not necessarily. The "Gluten Free" label means not more than 20ppm of gluten in the product which is often not enough for super sensitive celiacs. You would need to be looking for "Certified Gluten Free" (GFCO endorsed) which means no more than 10ppm of gluten. Having said that, "Gluten Free" doesn't mean that there will necessarily be more gluten than "Certified...

      I think it is wise to seek a second opinion from a GI doc and to go on a gluten free diet in the meantime. The GI doc may look at all the evidence, including the biopsy report, and conclude you don't need anything else to reach a dx of celiac disease and so, there would be no need for a gluten challenge. But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you...

I wish I had known of this at the time of her diagnosis, life would have been much easier.  I hope you are able to figure out.

I almost said no because she made it in her kitchen but I thought it would be ok.  Next day and for a few after his behavior is awful. Hitting, rude, disrespectful. Mainly he kept saying his legs were shaking. Is this a gluten exposure symptom that anyone else gets? Also the bad behavior?

But if the GI doc does want to do more testing, you can worry about the gluten challenge at that time. But between now and the time of the appointment, if your symptoms improve on a gluten free diet, that is more evidence. Just keep in mind that if a gluten challenge is called for, the bare minimum challenge length is two weeks of the daily consumption of at least 10g of gluten, which is about the amount found in 4-6 slices of wheat bread. But, I would count on giving it four weeks to be sure.
