Good afternoon. Not much to say, just popping in to see if there are any hot discussion about unique furniture or unusual jewelery. I guess not yet today.

Peeeeterrrr!!!

Good afternoon! I have no genitalia furniture to speak of, and only the priaptic earrings. I am going to the hospital this afternoon, so I will keep my eye out for any such adornments and effects that may be there to report back.

Penis earrings in the geriatric wing....jeez, dunno about that...... :o:lol:

Mygawd.....and I'd be on a horse the whole time. This'd be a trick...I'm quite a hoverer, but that may even challenge my quad strength and innate balance....:rolleyes:

Tho I never saw it, that movie The Horse Hoverer did seem well-received.

Em? That was YOU???????

Proximity to The Mystery Spot is my first guess.

:o

OMG - that's IT.........

Nicola - were you asking about the Mystery Spot? how do we 'splain that? It's a crooked building......on a slope......said to defy gravity and - it's really cool as a child but - don't adults kinda have it figgered out?

but yes - clearly the antidote to the Phaerie's magic in them hills.......

Re: the orchard..... WHAT is their tree-killing-problem!? You should file a ground breaking lawsuit because they are sucking all the air and beauty-calm-producing-life out of your environment.

I have been forming a letter to the editor in my head.....

sarah!!!!! so glad to see you "rambling" here!!!! (and you're NOT, BTW) And it just does SUCK how sick you and you'n have been....pray to god this clears up soon.......and yes, CHICKEN BUTT COOTIES on the way!!

"Don't pee on my head and tell me it's raining."

I used to do this with my barbies as a kid....There was a girl in my class whose face frighteningly resembled my Suntan Barbie's face when I squished it the other way--from the top and bottom.. My friend and I were so cruel....squishing the head and chanting, "Caroline Watson! Caroline Watson!"

Oh...... Any chance ya think Caroline is newly diagnosed, and skimming through these posts? I'll chance it, and leave the name in. But if there's suddenly a new member with a name like "collapsedpiggyface", alert me.

now THIS caused a huge, snorting guffaw........why you DEVIL you!!!!!!!!!!! Indeed, let's hope poor Caroline does not find her way here, into the vortex.....

Um......we did naughty things w/ the Barbies and GI Joe's.

"Let's all walk in calmly". So my son (the oldest in the group) says in a frantic voice . . . "I can't calm down!!!! I can't calm down!!!!" She responded with "I need you to try to calm down". He responded with "I can pretend to calm down." She said "Good Enough!!" and reported that he does a pretty good imitation of "calm".

absolutely brilliant......another big guffaw.......

Just what do you adorn them with???

......and BAM!!!!!!! There's Jess!

Gosh...I hate that......me smilies have all shifted order in my box (don't you just hate that! ....NO!....I mean... )

 the smilies seem to show up different, all the time. 'tis wackl......and um, YOU, my dear mad lady, are NEVER boring. ;)

Yes, Alex....only good can come of your brother's diagnosis. Just got unfortunate news from Enterolab--my dad's test is negative all around. I remain convinced that he has trouble with gluten, and that his neuropathy, Parkinson's, ataxia are all symptoms, but I don't have the documented proof to give to the retirement residence to have them put him on a gluten-free diet. Sigh...............

:( Very frustrating............

Who knows how long he's had celiac disease and if he would ever had been diagnosed. I feel like I needed to have celiac disease so that he could be diagnosed. Okay . . . enough rambling on about me and my life. There are much more interesting things out there.

Hardly!!!!!! This is a wonderful development about yoru bro, and this could change his life!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK- another Lyme story for you. Last Sunday i woke up convinced I was VERY hungover. This morning, I thought I was having a baby. I'm NOT EVEN kidding- my hips was on fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so......the Lyme travels around a bit? just so wackl......I say, time for ABSINTHIAN DESTRUCTION of the little buggers!!!!!!! Hope the pain passes quickly......

OMG - I AM going on your dream vacation in Ireland....I am more askeert of the horses than the ghosts..........

Penis earrings in the geriatric wing....jeez, dunno about that......

 they probably wouldn't even notice............

MORNING SILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My Kissey boy is on his way to Palo Alto, I stayed here - he is attending a family baby shower and, well, announcing my presence in his life to his whole family.....they are a bit in denial about it.....but today's the day when he evidently pounds them over the head with it (though, we decided that subtlety was better here and - my not going would be a little easier to take)............

and GUESS WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today, we ordered his personalized licence plates...........Yosemite plates to read:

VETIVER

(it's in the green/grass scent categories and on our actual first date, whilst I sniffed him like a dog, I proclaimed with great glee that he smelled of the GREEN category/classification of fragrances <this coloUrful irony is not escaping me, BTW> ......like grasses, vetiver, and celery............he LOVES this and so - now he's the only one in the state of CA to have that on his plates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

carry on, my sillies, I am going to Mommy's today..................

:)

Mtndog Collaborator

OMG- Susie is beyond head over heels.......Vetiver as the custom license plate? TOO cute!!!! Wait- we were trying to figure out who was getting busy and since it was Susie's hangover that prompted my last bizarre awakening, perhaps I am psychically linked to her and my "birthing" was related to her

OMG- Emily if we go on that trip we can drink absinthe, strengthen our quads and hopefully NOT come home pregnant :P

Bev! Looks like it's just you and me in Sillyville this morning. How are you? How's the bp and your other yucky lymie things? It's difficult to tell with you, as you are always in such great spirits.... :)

I plead the 5th- I'm OK- last two weeks have been stinky poo. Pain in the PICC line arm which freaks everyone out. Had to stop the anitibiotics because my blood pressure was going up so when I went back on them (after just four days) I went into hideous die-off. Spent most of yesterday in bed, today seems a bit better!!!!

Tho I never saw it, that movie The Horse Hoverer did seem well-received.

Em? That was YOU???????

   It was Emily and I. She was my stunt double cuz I just can't hover like she can :P

Well, I know last Sunday was caused by Tom mentioning that he called Ms PsiouxieQ and she was hungover/still drunk from SoCo. So now the question is: Who the heck got pregnant last night?:P:lol:

On a sadder note, there have been some email exchanges with my former roommate and friend in San Jose......despite her wish to resume things and forgive.....I am afraid that, for now, adn for a very long time, we are through. :(

But, it's okay sillies, I have tremendous joy in my life presently and am able to deal with this....

p.s. Hi Amanda! Halloo Peter!

Twas a busy weekend, we went to my moms and took Sabrina to breakfast with the Easter Bunny at Wegmans. Very nice. They had a wonderful breakfast buffet and helped me get a safe plate. I will update my avatar in a little bit to show you her new pic. We also met Tammy and Silvia there. It was a great visit.

Sounds marvy! :)

I feel like I needed to have celiac disease so that he could be diagnosed.

Alex, you really are old head on young shoulders ;) ....I agree everything happens for a reason...if my hubby hadn't of been dx'd with celiac disease ,my son never would have either :)

Now that I have been officially deemed to have what it takes to be a New England prepster here is my possible Open Original Shared Link This house also warms my heart and makes me squeal with delight.

Must start playing the lottery immediately! :P

OMG!!!!....those houses are GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!

BTW - playing the lottery is COMPULSORY for all sillies, so we may organise (and be able to pay for) the big meeting of the sillies when one of us wins :D

Horseback riding and absinthe do NOT mix. OK- when I get rich SOON I'm Open Original Shared Link! The more, the merrier!!!!!!!

My absinthetic looooooong lingering tail in giggleland is of a lighter nature than that of conventionally-inebriated laughter and its howling hilarity. ;)

Yep, me too. And it brought about some....fascinating....activities in our Laurentian cabin. As we all sat quietly in front of the fireplace, staring lazily and letting out the odd chortle, I began to speak about the size of DH's head (very large, and appearing even more so since baldness has begun).

This caused a few minutes of giggling, then breathless laughing. Brett suddenly jumped up, and I watched him silhouetted against the firelight as he charged into the bathroom and returned with the scale. "Okay. Who has the heaviest head?" So, he put the scale on the coffe table and we each, in turn, kneeled down and lay our heads on the scale. You wanna talk giggling....

Well, DH's head weighed by far the most. I was laughing too hard to notice where I ranked. And we couldn't laugh AT ALL while our heads were being weighed, as this caused the numbers to jump around. OMG....

Next winter, it's all of us up on those hills, in that cabin......WE MUST DO THIS, SILLIES!!!! :):);)

Where I used to work in the early 1990s, we used to make fun of political correctness, by finding instances of the letters "man" in words that had nothing to do with gender and replacing them anyway with "person."

There was a football (soccer) club we called Personchester United. My job title was personager. The books we gave customers to help them use our products were personuals. Well, you get the drift. We even had a staff member we called Mr. Federperson. Oh, person! It was phunny at the time. Maybe it was just huperson nature.

Top 'o the mornin' to ya, Sillies! (Li'l green leprechaun face).....

And a happy St. Patrick's Day. Good Patrick was the saint of what, anyway?

Who has fiery Irish blood coursing close to the surface? My great-great-grandparents on my dad's side were from Dublin, I believe. Nothing that recent....I think most Canadian caucasians don't have to go back too far to find an Irish descendent. :)

Dad is, as we speak, being wheeled into the Heart Institute for his angiogram. Perhaps angioplasty will follow, depending on what they find. The waiting game....

Y'know, I was thinking, Nikki....perhaps to better guage how well weight loss is happening, you should simply weigh just your head now and then. I weighed mine twice while away, and I gained about three ounces in a couple of days (true). Now, instead of being disappointed and angry at the weight gain as I normally am, I felt differently....perplexed, yes, but also somewhat pleased, like I had gained weight in my brain due to it working more efficiently...gaining mass as a muscle should.

Anyways, both times I was coasting on absinthe, and this all seemed brilliant and entertaining at the time.....perhaps one had to be there....... <_<:lol:

Count me in as 1/8 Irish . . .

A Englishman, a Scotsman, and an Irishman walk into a pub. They each buy a pint of Guiness beer.

Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage three flies landed in each of their pints, and were stuck in the thick head.

The Englishman pushed his beer away from him in disgust.

The Scotsman fished the offending fly out of his beer and continued drinking it as if nothing had happened.

The Irishman too, picked the fly out of his drink, held it out over the beer and then started yelling, "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!!"

Thanks again for the detailed explanation. Just to clarify, I actually did have my initial tests done while I was still consuming gluten. I stopped eating gluten only after those tests were completed, and it has now been about 70 days since I went gluten-free. I understand the limitations around diagnosing NCGS and the importance of antibody testing and biopsy for celiac disease. Unfortunately, where I live, access to comprehensive testing (including total IgA and endoscopy with biopsy) is limited, which makes things more complicated. Your explanation about small-bowel damage, nutrient absorption, and iron-deficiency anemia still aligns closely with my history, and it’s been very helpful in understanding what may be going on. I don't wanna get Endoscopy and I can't start eating Gluten again because it's hurt really with severe diarrhea.  I appreciate you taking the time to share such detailed and informative guidance. Thank you so much for this detailed and thoughtful response. I really appreciate you pointing out the relationship between anemia and antibody patterns, and how the high DGP IgG still supports celiac disease in my case. A gluten challenge isn’t something I feel safe attempting due to how severe my reactions were, so your suggestion about genetic testing makes a lot of sense. I’ll look into whether HLA testing is available where I live and discuss it with my doctor. I also appreciate you mentioning gastrointestinal beriberi and thiamine deficiency. This isn’t something any of my doctors have discussed with me, and given my symptoms and nutritional history, it’s definitely worth raising with them. I’ll also ask about correcting deficiencies more comprehensively, including B vitamins alongside iron. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and taking the time to help. I’ll update the forum as I make progress.

Blood tests for thiamine are unreliable.  The nutrients from your food get absorbed into the bloodstream and travel around the body.  So, a steak dinner can falsely raise thiamine blood levels in the following days.  Besides, thiamine is utilized inside cells where stores of thiamine are impossible to measure. A better test to ask for is the Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test.  But even that test has been questioned as to accuracy.  It is expensive and takes time to do.   Because of the discrepancies with thiamine tests and urgency with correcting thiamine deficiency, the World Health Organization recommends giving thiamine for several weeks and looking for health improvement.  Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Many doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition and deficiency symptoms, and may not be familiar with how often they occur in Celiac disease.  B12 and Vitamin D can be stored for as long as a year in the liver, so not having deficiencies in these two vitamins is not a good indicator of the status of the other seven water soluble B vitamins.  It is possible to have deficiency symptoms BEFORE there's changes in the blood levels.   Ask your doctor about Benfotiamine, a form of thiamine that is better absorbed than Thiamine Mononitrate.  Thiamine Mononitrate is used in many vitamins because it is shelf-stable, a form of thiamine that won't break down sitting around on a store shelf.  This form is difficult for the body to turn into a usable form.  Only thirty percent is absorbed in the intestine, and less is actually used.   Thiamine interacts with all of the other B vitamins, so they should all be supplemented together.  Magnesium is needed to make life sustaining enzymes with thiamine, so a magnesium supplement should be added if magnesium levels are low.   Thiamine is water soluble, safe and nontoxic even in high doses.  There's no harm in trying.

Neither of them were anemic 6 months after the Celiac diagnosis. His other vitamin levels (d, B12) were never low. My daughters levels were normal after the first 6 months. Is the thiamine test just called thiamine?

Yes, I do think they need a Thiamine supplement at least. Especially since they eat red meat only occasionally. Most fruits and vegetables are not good sources of Thiamine.  Legumes (beans) do contain thiamine.  Fruits and veggies do have some of the other B vitamins, but thiamine B 1 and  Cobalamine B12 are mostly found in meats.  Meat, especially organ meats like liver, are the best sources of Thiamine, B12, and the six other B vitamins and important minerals like iron.   Thiamine has antibacterial and antiviral properties.  Thiamine is important to our immune systems.  We need more thiamine when we're physically ill or injured, when we're under stress emotionally, and when we exercise, especially outside in hot weather.  We need thiamine and other B vitamins like Niacin B 3 to keep our gastrointestinal tract healthy.  We can't store thiamine for very long.  We can get low in thiamine within three days.  Symptoms can appear suddenly when a high carbohydrate diet is consumed.  (Rice and beans are high in carbohydrates.)  A twenty percent increase in dietary thiamine causes an eighty percent increase in brain function, so symptoms can wax and wane depending on what one eats.  The earliest symptoms like fatigue and anxiety are easily contributed to other things or life events and dismissed.   Correcting nutritional deficiencies needs to be done quickly, especially in children, so their growth isn't stunted.  Nutritional deficiencies can affect intelligence.  Vitamin D deficiency can cause short stature and poor bone formation.   Is your son taking anything for the anemia?  Is the anemia caused by B12 or iron deficiency?

Thank you! That's helpful. My kids eat very little processed food. Tons of fruit, vegetables, cheese, eggs and occasional red meat. We do a lot of rice and bean bowls, stir fry, etc.  Do you think with all the fruits and vegetables they need a vitamin supplement? I feel like their diet is pretty healthy and balanced with very limited processed food. The only processed food they eat regularly is a bowl of Cheerios here and there.  Could shaking legs be a symptom of just a one-time gluten exposure? I guess there's no way to know for sure if they're getting absolutely zero exposure because they do go to school a couple times a week. We do homeschool but my son does a shared school 2x a week and my daughter does a morning Pre-K 3 x a week.  At home our entire house is strictly gluten free and it is extremely rare for us to eat out. If we eat at someone else's house I usually just bring their food. When we have play dates we bring all the snacks, etc. I try to be really careful since they're still growing. They also, of course, catch kids viruses all the time so I  want to make sure I know whether they're just sick or they've had gluten. It can be pretty confusing when they're pretty young to even be explaining their symptoms!
