Evening sillies

much updating this evening...where to start where to start

Well the computer war at work was won today. We got the new computers, and they have widescreen monitors.....boy did we make out, we got the cadilac of computers lol

My mom has a new christmas angel in her home this evening. He is 1yr old and blonde hair blue eyes, named Christopher. According to my mom he resembles Landen with just a bit less hair. I did get a phone picture from my sis tonight, he looks like a doll. So now he and Brooklyn will spend Christmas @ moms. very fun with lil ones at this time.

We are getting some nasty weather tomorrow.....ice ice and more ice! I am dreading every bit of it.

Saturday we are heading to NYC, John and I and my coworker and her hubby. We are going to spend the day and do Central Park, see the big Christmas Tree, do the Statue of Liberty and hoepfully Chinatown, plus we want to see the 9/11 memorial.

My coworker was discharged from the hospital on Friday and had to go home with a drain tube, she was scheduled to have it out Monday. Monday came and she had it out. Today she came in for a CT Scan and then we heard them say they were putting the drain back in. Next I know, my coworker said they still found infection and she was being readmitted. She had the surgery 2 weeks ago today....and has had nothing but problems since....scary!

I think we are going to skip the decorating at our house this year, with the move so soon after Christmas, it seems like a big hassle. We migh string a few inside lights but I am not even sure about getting a tree.

Well now it is time to finish up laundry.

It feels like a huge load has been lifted off my shoulders, I did the decorating, got my cards off, and finished my present shopping. Just have to wrap them and plan the Christmas Eve/Christmas Day menus, but I am way ahead of the game this year......for once (usually I am way behind)....and it's a great feeling.

How is everybody else today?

I....um....bought myself a new sweater....

I'm currently reading People of the Book. I hear ya on The Lovely Bones.

MORNING FESTIVE PSILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GAHHH!!!!...my microwave has died :( ....what will I DO???????

What does it mean???

More cleaning on the agenda (hall windows,blinds...hang twinkly lights @ window) but t'is only a tiny window...won't take long

Also waiting in for the electrician/builders....am having an extractor fan put in the bathroom.......definitely NO ballcocks...but maybe a large tool????

OH!! My ads at the bottom say...

Wood venetian blinds and

SWAROVSKI xmas tree......mmmm, sounds interesting! <going back to see what it looks like!!>

sillies - am positively vomitous - not from beverages - - from VAST quantities of birthday/premenstrual junk food binges (nearly a whole bag of barbecue chips AND half a bag of nuggets)

I'm curious....when you say a whole bag...how much is IN the bag??? I would easily get through a bag of crisps and MUCH more :P

Our 'standard' bags hold 25g.

Hair got fixed today - fairly glorious now but - it's back to brown, pretty much  I kind of love it but.......quite a harrowing and expensive procedure to get here

HOORAY!!! ...but yes, t'was a trauma getting there!!!.....do NOT EVER go back there!!!

What's yer new read, Janet? Just finished The Lovely Bones. I managed to stick with it.... . a trememndous read, but one of the toughest I've faced. Not for the faint of heart - -particularly agonizing, at first, for those with young daughters.. . . ...

What's everybody reading?

I liked 'Lovely Bones' but a tear jerker!!! (I LIKE a book to move me to tears  )

I am currently reading 'The forgotten Garden' by Kate Morton ........must confess, not alot of time to read lately

I....um....bought myself a new sweater....

Well done Jess!!!! A good warm jumper is a necessity

UM, Janet???.....I think the last post for international mail was last week

Must crack on!!!!

Psssssshhhhhhhhaaaaauuuuuggghhhhhh . . . 25 measly grams . . . the bag of crisps I just brought home has 336 grams . . . that's our standard size. You have the "single serving" size to go in a lunch box. They do make a "family size" which is considerably bigger than the 336g . . . Suezzee, was it a family size bag of crisps?

UM, Janet???.....I think the last post for international mail was last week

What???!!!?? How long does it take to row fly a plane across the pond??

I liked 'Lovely Bones' but a tear jerker!!! (I LIKE a book to move me to tears  )

OMG. . . . ...It was more than tear-jerking for me....it was agonizing at times. The writing so beautiful - - lyrical and poignant, yet descriptions of things so horrific. .. ..I struggled a great deal. Interesting that everyone to whom I have spoken who has reacted to the book in such an extremely emotional way has at least one young daughter.

Boy, I find myself now looking long and beseechingly at Sophie. . .. ..worrying, wondering. . .. .It will pass, I know....(gad, I HOPE). . . .. . .

Enufffffff pseriousness!!!!!

I'm not sure what it has to do with microwaves, but indeed, today is December 11, which is a most significant date indeed for Canadians. Today is the 77th anniversary of what is, in my opinion, the most significant event in Canadian political history. It actually took place in the UK, and affected more than just Canada.

No sign today. .. . ...did we hear from her yesterday at all?

PAAAAATTTTIIIIIII!!

I cannot bring forth a calling like Ptaoughmghmn . . .. ..

Ptaoughmghmn, can you call Patti, puleeeze?

Green12 Enthusiast

Where's Patti?

I agree wif Htawmn . . . I would've guess "chuffed" to have a differnt meaning.

It took me a while to figger this out....I thought who in the world is "Htawmn"? Was this a new Silly that I just didn't know about or met yet? Did somebody give a name the llama? Maybe it was code for yeti or the bugler? Or maybe I missed another nickname for Sam Hill??

Then I got it

Ugh so exhausted today & I've barely done anything. Feels like if I even TRY to do a few things I'll be too tired to work later. :(

I hate talking about crappy days.

I suppose the bright side is that current crappy is nowhere near the crappy of the past?????

Poopy Cow Tom!!!!!!! Well good news the current crappy is nowhere near the crappy of the past, hope you got rested and refreshed!

positively vomitous

Feel quite barphish

menstrually and over-binged vomitociousness

I just highlighted a few of the key points from your post....are you feeling ok there?!?!?!

Well at least your hair is glorious!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you feel better today SOOZE!!!!

Yay Em, glad you stuck with it. I don't know if I could with such tough subject matter. I tell you, a book like Kite Runner just made we weep and weep and weep, but so incredibly rewarding.

I am embarrassed to say I am still reading Love in the Time of Cholerra, well reading is not really accurate, more like staring at it from across the room as it calls out to me "I am half way read, you need to finish me!" At this rate I don't know if I will ever git er dun.

I have several books on tap too, Angels and Demons, Simple Genius, and Atonement.

My mom has a new christmas angel in her home this evening. He is 1yr old and blonde hair blue eyes, named Christopher. According to my mom he resembles Landen with just a bit less hair. I have a 'cute' to pass on. My boss (MD,PhD) was telling me that his son's (5 or 6) favorite toy was something that changed the color of dyes based on pH. I started laughing and said something like "Your poor kids were doomed form birth". He replied that his daughter (3 1/2) was very much into princesses, although, she did recently say she wanted to be a doctor to princesses...

those kids are in for a lifetime of nerdliness

I also realized it's weird to hear the word "princesses" come out of your bosses mouth

I agree, there can be contamination at many points--milling is another possible source of contamination for any flours.

Keep in mind that with manufactured food products, "gluten free" doesn't equate to no gluten. Things that are naturally gluten free can be cross-contaminated with gluten in the field, in shipping and in processing. In the U.S. companies can use the gluten free label as long as the product doesn't exceed 20ppm of gluten. That amount still may cause a reaction in some people.

Dd10 was tested for celiac four years ago bc two siblings were dx’d (positive labs and biopsies). Her results at the time were positive ema  and ttg (7x the UL), but a negative biopsy. We checked again three months later and her ttg was still positive (4x the UL), but ema and biopsy were negative. Doc said it was “potential celiac” and to keep eating gluten, but we were concerned about harming her growth and development while young and had her go gluten-free because we felt the labs and ema in particular were very suggestive of early celiac, despite the negative biopsies. She also had stomach aches and lethargy when eating it. We just felt it’d be better to be safe than sorry. Now, four years later, she doesn’t want to be gluten-free if she doesn’t “have to be,” so underwent a 12 week gluten challenge. She had labs done before starting and all looked great (celiac panel all negative, as expected.) Surprisingly, she experienced no noticeable symptoms when she began eating gluten again, which we felt was a positive sign. However, 12 weeks in, her labs are positive again (ttg 4x the UL and ema positive again as well). Doc says that since she feels fine and her previous two biopsies showed nothing, she can just keep eating gluten and we could maybe biopsy again in two years. I was looking up the ema test and the probability of having not just one but two false positives, and it seems ridiculously low.  Any advice? Would you biopsy again? She’s old enough at this point that I really feel I need her buy-in to keep her gluten-free, and she feels that if the doc says it’s fine, then that’s the final word — which makes me inclined to biopsy again and hope that it actually shows damage this time (not because I want her to have celiac like her sisters, but because I kind of think she already does have it, and seeing the damage now would save her more severe damage in the long run that would come from just continuing to eat gluten for a few more years before testing again.)  Our doc is great - we really like him. But we are very confused and want to protect her. One of her older sibs stopped growing and has lots of teeth problems and all that jazz from not catching the celiac disease sooner, and we don’t want to get to that point with the younger sis. fwiw- she doesn’t mind the biopsy at all. It’s at a children’s hospital and she thinks it’s kind of fun. So it’s not like that would stress her out or anything.

Thanks for the replies. I already use a gluten-free brand of buckwheat flakes I occasionally get itchy bumps. I'm still reviewing all my food products. I occasionally eat prepackaged gluten-free crackers and cookies, so I'll stop using those. I use buckwheat flakes and Doves Farm flour as a base for baking. Would you recommend eliminating those as well? It's a constant search.

Gluten free food is not fortified with vitamins and minerals as regular food is.  Vitamin deficiencies are common especially in recently diagnosed persons,  Get a 25(OH)Vitamin D blood test. And work on raising it.  The safe upper blood level is around 200 nmol/L.    "Low serum levels of 25(OH)D have been associated with increased risk of autoimmune disease onset and/or high disease activity. The role of vitamin D in autoimmune diseases   🏋️‍♂️Good job!   I find the commercial milk will give me mild stomach burn at night, while pasture/grassfed only milk does not bother me at all.  While you are healing, listen to your body.  If it hurts to eat something, eat something else.  You may be able to eat it later, or maybe it is just not good for you.  Lower your Omega 6 to 3 ratio of what you eat.  Most omega 6 fatty acids are inflammation causing.    The standard american diet omega 6:3 ratio is estimated at upward of 14:1.  Thats why fish oil works
