So, Chuck and Camilla hit town last evening, and will be milling about at our National War Memorial tomorrow for all of the ceremonies. Thank goodness I found this article:

Open Original Shared Link

Now I'm clear on how to properly conduct myself should I suddenly be seated with them at a dinner engagement, or positioned behind them at the grocery store, aerobics class, etc.

A great article, full of vital bits of advice:

At a recent media briefing, however, the question of whether the royals had received a flu shot went unanswered in the name of medical and personal privacy, so it might be wise to always carry a jar of hand sanitizer with you, and don't hesitate to use it immediately following any physical contact with the Prince and Duchess. A mask might not be a bad idea, either.

Hello me psillies- Yes, it has been quiet here! I don't know where I've been?

Heading out to see "The Men Who Stare at Goats"... .. .....looks phab .. .....

How was it? It looks great!

Raychelle- all your posts  x 10

Mine had projectile vomit....it hit the wall and slowly slid down.

Egads! that's the worst!!!!!!!!!!!

Did I ever tell you guys that in my "letter of application" (I use that term loosely) for my preschool position, I informed the director that I don't gag at the smell (or sound)of vomit? I'm pretty sure that's why I got the job.

 That and yer spelling abilities! I spell fo-net-ick-lee.

Silver lining on an otherwise crappy evening,

I bid on and won a romantic trip for 2 to Victoria BC to stay at the Fairmont Empress!! Think I should take the hubby or find someone worthy of a romantic weekend?? ;)

That rocks! Jealous!!!!!!!!!!

Morning Psillies. Cinnamon rolls are rising. They shall be ready in about 1 1/2 hours. That should be plenty of time for you all to get here. I shall expect you shortly.

Got any left? <drooldrooldrool>

Just a poop in. God, I miss talking about poop and vomit, not having to worry bout spellin and "Perfect English" and being uncerimonially un civilized! My computer crashed and I can't afford a new one. Just wanted to thank you all for the many times you've lifted my spirits. Hope to poop in now and then, but access is hard now. You all sound so good and I miss ya!

Sleezen

We miss you Sleezen!

Barack apparently grabbed one when he was here.... ...... . ..

Men Who Stare at Goats....... . ..well, the premise was funnier than the movie, methinks. Mildly entertaining, and staying power due to it being based on a true army regiment back in the 60's.

Actually, the TRUE staying power came, entirely, from the fact that George Clooney is in practically every scene, and I will sit and stare at him doin' just about anything for two hours... . ..... <_<

Why doesn't George do anything for me? Never has....I can appreciate him aesthetically but nope, not dreamy. He's aging quite elegantly though.

I much prefer rougher men like Anthony Kiedis (RHCP), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) and Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) and.........Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall

Everyone in that movie is beautiful. Julia Ormond is breathtaking! Ethereal.

Ok- must come clean. My name means "girl from the beaver meadow" in Olde English. Thus the nickname Beaverly

A solemn day here in Ottawa..... ...will be heading down to the War Memorial for 11 o'clock with the Ripper -- he's not so solemn, as his school has the day off. <_<

Almost every Remembrance Day that I can recall has been cold, rainy and miserable here, something challenging but fitting to stand through at the ceremonies. Today, however, is beautiful -- bright sun and 9C.

My dad did not see action during WWII.....he guarded German prisoners at the Trenton base. Many of the detainees, young, scared kids like himself, became his friends, and I still have three beautiful wooden carvings that prisoners whittled away at as they passed the time in their cells, and gave to Dad when he openly admired them.

I will certainly look at them today, and think of my dad laughingly trying to translate a joke into German, or helping the young wounded soldier with a mangled hand write a letter home .

I wonder if he was ever dressed as a sumo wrestler, or an old, matronly lady, back in those prison-camp days. . .. .......

Hi Jane: You may want to try the D3 I now take. I have reactions to fillers and many additives. Sports Research, it is based in the USA and I have had no bad reactions with this brand. The D3 does have coconut oil but it is non GMO, it is Gluten free, Soy free, Soybean free and Safflower oil free.  I have a cupboard full of supplements that did not agree with me -  I just keep trying and have finally settled on Sports Research. I take NAKA Women's Multi full spectrum, and have not felt sick after taking 2 capsules per day -  it is a Canadian company. I buy both from Amazon. I wish you well in your searching, I know how discouraging it all is. Florence.

highly unlikely  NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else has ever caused me these kinds of symptoms I have no problem with dates, they are a large part of my diet In fact, I eat a very high fiber, very high vegetable and bean diet and have for many years now. It's considered a whole foods plant based or plant forward diet (I do now eat some lean ground turkey but not much) I was off dairy for years but recently had to add back plain yogurt to meet calcium needs that I am not allowed to get from supplements (I have not had any problem with the yogurt)   I eat almost no processed foods. I don't eat out. almost everything I eat, I cook myself I am going to keep a food diary but to be honest, I already know that it's wheat products and also barley that are the problem, which is why I gradually stopped eating and buying them. When I was eating them, like back in early 2024, when I was in the middle of moving and ate out (always had bread or toast or rolls or a sub or pizza) I felt terrible but at that time was so busy and exhausted that I never stopped to think it was the food. Once I was in my new place, I continued to have bread from time to time and had such horrible joint pain that I was preparing for 2 total knee replacements as well as one hip! The surgery could not go forward as I was (and still am) actively losing calcium from my bones. That problem has yet to be properly diagnosed and treated   anyway over time I realized that I felt better when I stopped eating bread. Back at least 3 yrs ago I noticed that regular pasta made me sick so I switched to brown rice pasta and even though it costs a lot more, I really like it.   so gradually I just stopped buying and eating foods with gluten. I stopped getting raisin bran when I was constipated because it made me bloated and it didn't help the constipation any more (used to be a sure bet that it would in the past)   I made cookies and brownies using beans and rolled oats and dates and tahini and I LOVE them and have zero issues eating those I eat 1 or more cans of beans per day easily can eat a pound of broccoli - no problem! Brussels sprouts the same thing.   so yeh it's bread and related foods that are clearly the problem  there is zero doubt in my mind

Thank you for your post, @nanny marley It is interesting what you say about 'It's OK not to sleep'. Worrying about sleeping only makes it much harder to sleep.  One of my relatives is an insomniac and I am sure that is part of the problem.  Whereas I once had a neighbour who, if she couldn't sleep, would simply get up again, make a cup of tea, read, do a sudoku or some other small task, and then go back to bed when she felt sleepy again.  I can't think it did her any harm - she lived  well into her nineties. Last week I decided to try a Floradix Magnesium supplement which seems to be helping me to sleep better.  It is a liquid magnesium supplement, so easy to take.  It is gluten free (unlike the Floradix iron supplement).  Might be worth a try.

It could be a fructan intolerance? How do you do with dates?  https://www.dietvsdisease.org/sorry-your-gluten-sensitivity-is-actually-a-fructan-intolerance/

Thank’s for addressing the issue of mushrooms.  I was under the impression that only wild mushrooms were gluten-free.  Have been avoiding cultivated mushrooms for years. Also, the issue of smoked food was informative.  In France last year, where there is hardly any prepared take-out food that is gluten-free, I tried smoked chicken.  Major mistake!
