You will be the belle of the ball, the Queen of Quinoa, The Sultan of Stuffing - IF you put this on your Christmas table.

OMG! I was not the belle of the ball (Hell's Belles perhaps, but not the ball) nor the Queen of Quinoa. I had a very very long winter's nap. After I had trigger point injections with anestehesia on them, I had a no-good very bad reaction. I was knocked on my buttocks, it was like being stoned 24-7. All I wanted to do was sleep and eat. I crashed and fell into an antique bureau (OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!).

Apparently I had a very rare adverse reaction and to boot, no one told me not to consume alcohol so I would sleep all day and then have a few cocktails at holiday festivities in the evening and be knocked on my butt again the next day. I didn't feel ill at all, just very very relaxed which would have been pleasant if I didn't have to do 50 million things. Arrrgggh!

I slept through Christmas dinner (I made Christmas Eve dinner and was standing for it so that was good!). Last night I slept 13 hours. They say it should be out of my system in a few days. ohhhh...so sleepy! Talk about a long winter's nap. Hope you all had a Merry Merry Merry Christmas. Mine was very merry but oh so sleepy!

jerseyangel Proficient

Oh Bev--so 2006 will be the year you slept through Christmas :o

I hope it gets out of your system quickly--until then, take it easy, and just keep doing what you're doing :) Gosh, I'm glad at least it didn't make you sick, you poor thing!

I know- can you believe it? I did make it to the important things like Kurt's work Festivus party (remind me to tell you about that one! Hilarity around the grievance pole!) and hosting Christamas Eve here with my family (the ham came out better than usual).

The funniest thing was that it really was like being "stoned" (not that i would know because I only tried it once and didn't inhale  ) because all I awnted to do was eat and sleep. Brownies galore (gluten and soy free from scratch- you need the recipe Patti!)!

Well hello everyone! And Bev - - - - oh dear!!! Definitely sounds like you got to go to your MAGIC PLACE but the timing was really not so good......dang, that sounded fun!:lol: Um, just not on Christmas, maybe.......

This is just a quick hello. the dingos and I had a great Christmas, hope you all did as well. I am kind of in a busy stage and working a lot (but not like Richard)......will see what kind of silliness I can come up with later. Cleaning up the after-christmas bombs and squalor in my house.

SEE YA!!!!!!!

BEV - - - I made your chicken Marsala on Christmas day! It was YUMMY! (well, confession, I didn't really make it, someone else was here and made the whole thing while I watched and directed and cleaned up marshmallow madness)

I'm eating leftover blah-blah quinoa with dingo stuffing, anybody want some? Leftover green bean casserole? Turkey? My most favorite-est season - leftover season!

Bev - I'd advise that you stay away from the 'shrooms - you think you have the munchies now?! Or so I hear  (I chewed but didn't swallow?)

I've had 4 holiday feasts in the last 5 days, and I'm going to another tonight! :o Somebody pass the alka-seltzer before I explode!

....too busy this week... dinners, roller skating party w/ a mob of 5 yo's, birthday party for Olivia, New Year's Eve party, New Year's Day party and WORK ( ).

Glad to see you all survived gluten-free.

Where did you get the dingos? were they endangered?

Richard - - - you sound very busy. It'll be so fun when you're just playing on teh computer again at work.

Nikki - it's my Annual Christmas Squalor. :P Santa's workshop in nearly every room and then piles of laundry and other crap all over my bedroom. It's now somewhat under control but this year was a particularly disorganized year so there was lots of merde all over the house. Heinous!

Bev - - I actually used half-and-half, and only normal mushrooms - forgot to get the other kind. Still quite tasty. didnt' even have any w hite wine so used more Marsala w/ some chicken broth. Also coated each piece in a bit of rice flour before. So yummy. the fresh marjoram - excellent.

and how did Angus enjoy his first Christmas?

;) gotta go. to work. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to use imitation dingo. The market was all out of the fresh variety

It will be so much nicer to be playing again....only a few more weeks :(

I actually just realized that i forgot to do something that really needed to be done last week...OOOoops  . I'm just no good at work I guess! :P

Tonight's dinner affair will be challenging...I hope to make it out without getting cc'd or straight-up glutened...a well meaning, but clueless friend of my wife is hosting...I really don't need to get glutened right now (like any of us do?)

on to the next party!

More like a back brace - very few of them know how to skate, so there is a lot of bending and leaning and unnatural movement - like skating in a stooped position with elbows hooked under child's armpits to kit him/her "afloat" (3rd skating party this month  ).

Olivia will have a great b'day.

She got a guitar for Christmas and wanted to stay up and play it long past her bedtime on Christmas night. I told her that she need to go to bed. She replied that it wasn't fair. I launched into the "life's not fair - get used to it" speech. She replied that she was going to write a song (at 4 and 358 days mind you) and starts strumming away "Life's not fair, I hafta go to bed..." Mary and I couldn't contain ourselves we were laughing so hard! :D My daughter sings the BLUES!

I got ice skates for Christmas and will need back brace as well. Getting my hair cut like Dorothy Hammill next week. :P

Olivia sounds like a HOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Teach her this song:

Three, four...

Smelly Dad, Smelly Dad,

Just what is eating you?

Smelly Dad, Smelly Dad

It's not my fault

They won't let me stay up late

I'm obviously not your favorite date

Smelly Dad, Smelly Dad,

It's not my fault

I may not be a bed of roses

But You're no friend to those with noses

I'll miss you before I'm done

Or the world will smell as one

Smelly Dad, Smelly Dad,

What are they feeding you?

Smelly Dad Smelly dad

It's ALL your fault

I think that I'm gonna be sick

It's your ears, and the nose

You pick

One, two, what's that smell?

All the kids in the neighborhood

Are saying this for your own good

You better let me stay up late

And play guitar or on your nerves I'll grate

Smelly Dad, Smelly Dad,

Gluten makes you eat like that

We know what was in your food

I know it might affect your mood

Smelly Dad, Smelly Dad

I just wanna croon the blues

while you go make your stinky poos!

For heaven sake, Beverly, be careful on those skates! :o

Olivia singing the blues--too funny! I picture a harmonica and the song--"Nobody Knows....".

More holiday wisdom from my uncle:

REMEMBER THIS AT CHRISTMAS TIME

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December. Female reindeer retain theirs 'til after they give birth in the spring.

Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.

We should've known... ONLY women would be able to drag a fat man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost.

OMG yes!!... we had that in the UK but we called it 'the Purdey cut'!!!

See 'Purdey' http://www.mevproductions.co.uk/TV/NewAvengers2.webp

My Mum had that cut ...looked good too!!

I soooo wanted it too but my hair is tight ringlets

I looked more like this in 1977 :lol:

I ventured out to the outside world this morning  for the kids to spend any money they got for xmas.

OMG HEINOUS !!

You'd of thought they were giving it away - hate the sales!!

My eldest (17yrs) bought a Beatles album (would you believe???).....so we all had a good sing song

It's funny how their stuff is timeless.

Eldest son also bought some new guitar strings (I think he thinks he's a budding Paul McCartney)

....so I was thinking we could set up a band..

...and call it the children of coeliacs

Daniel on guitar

Olivia on vocals

I haven't anything funny or clever to say today. :o Kind of scary. But rest assured, I haven't lost my mojo.

Must get ready for work and then another Christmas tonight w/ slacker family. harumph, yawn, obligatory but at least my mom will be there and she is a goof.
