I really would like to know, my doctor says that I have "Celiac Sprue Disease" is this the same as 'celiacs"

I never see CSD only celiac disease what is correct or is it all correct and have different meaning.

Also does one always have DH if so then are colds sores which I haven't had in 3 months I also had super big blister like sore on my face itself a few months ago very painful.

Thanks

Rebecca

Rebecca, Celiac Sprue and celiac disease is the same thing. And no, not everybody with celiac disease has DH as well.

Celiac Sprue is kind of he "old school" name for Celiac. It is also Celiac not Celiacs. :)

Most of us just call it Celiac....you will see that the majority of the time .... hence, the C D.

Also, in some European countries, it is spelled "coeliac"

Oh-another one, which is the same thing, is "non-tropical sprue" (because there is a type of sprue that you can acquire, but is not common, and not really related to Celiac.)

If you think you have DH, you should get it biopsied. But make sure you find someone who knows the protocol for biopsying it...many don't.

Hope this helps.

Thank you. I must have misinterpreted a study or something. Thank you for the clarification. Much appreciated. Almost three years into my celiac diagnosis and I'm still learning new things.

I wasn’t clear, glucagon and gadolinium were intravenous. I drank about 5 cups of the prep during 45 minutes. I feel very tired now, probably partly because I was nervous, and partly because I had to fast for 6 hours beforehand and wasn’t very hungry when I got home.

That seems at lot of solution to have put threw you when you already have bowel issues , I will phone them tomorrow because it's sorbitol I have reactions too, thankyou for the input how do you feel now ? I'm not sure I can keep still for that long with my back issues either unfortunately I didn't know it could take that long 😕

The solution I had to drink contained sorbitol and mannitol. I was in the MRI, lying on my back, for about 40 minutes. I was given glucagon partway through, and a gadolinium contrast agent. After I got home there was some diarrhea from the prep solution.
