Interesting link here. This vet has Celiac himself and lists different foods that are good etc...sounds like he believes Celiac can also occur in animals (they've identified it in the Irish Setter)...

My dog (a mini schnauzer) is allergic to wheat. She throws up if she eats anything with wheat in it.

my cat was dx'ed gluten intolerant after a bout with bullimia! So I feed all my animals gluten-free food.

You know, it's funny - ever since I put my 8 year old lab who's had diarrhea for years (with nasty blood) on Canidae - she's finally had completely normal waste.

I wonder if she had colitis or an allergy?

Thanks, Amanda, for the info. I just began my animals (2 dogs, 5 cats- Yikes! Whose idea was that?) on the Canidae and feline one. We'll see how they do. Pricey, though.

One of my chihuahua's had ezcema until I put him on Nutro Lamb and Rice. It was gone in about 2 weeks.

My animals health has improved greatly since I switched them to a totally grain free food. The one cat who would eat until he literally threw up at least 4 times a day has stopped doing that and his hair has grown back where he had always had a bald spot. He is also more energetic and can even be caught playing again. He has also lost about 5 lbs. He is only a 20 lb cat now Maybe someday I will be able to lift him again. I also am able to be much more relaxed and not worry about CC from the dog and cat food. It is nice not to have to wash my hands a million times a day. I am starting to firmly believe that the only animals that need grain are birds.

my puppy is also on canidae! does anyone know any gluten free bones/snacks/rawhides?
