Gluten Free Sandwiches

Hello everyone,

I was just wondering wether or not anyone knows of anywhere that stocks, makes or sells ready made gluten free sandwiches? I'm sure there is a huge gap in the market for this, I'm trying to remedy that but I can't until I know the current availability.

I don't know about anyone else here but I'm forever faced with the dilema of eating rubbish or eating nothing if we stop in a service station...

I travel around alot & I have never seen any gluten-free sandwich bread in service plaza's or even Pamela's individual cookie pkg. I just carry my own with me. I sometimes but a slice of gluten-free turkey breast & add it to my bread in the car.

This topic makes me miss Uncrustables :(

I almost forgot about them. Someone needs to make a gluten-free version.

If your around Denver, CO, there is a place called Deby's Gluten Free Bakery. Not only do they make good bread, you can by pre-packaged sandwiches, even premade lunchs, meatloaf and potatoes and the like.

Amazing Thank You. I'm in the UK though :( The products on the site look tasty, how are the sandwiches?

Hmmm, seems better than the Uk... Are they any good?

Uncrustables? What are they? I'm in the Uk and not heard of them...

First of all - those of you in Denver are so lucky to have Deby's! I've been to CO before, way pre-Celiac, but now I really want to go there to visit Deby's! Is it weird that I want to plan a vacation around gluten-free food availability?? ;)

Second, Uncrustables are these round sandwiches (made with gluten bread) with peanut butter and jelly. They're called Uncrustables b/c (duh) they have no crust, and the edges are pinched closed. This probably explains it better than I can: Open Original Shared Link

Ener-G makes some of their gluten-free breads packaged two slices per bag. They are pretty expensive, but they do keep for a long time. I plan to take these along with us if we ever make another cross country move.

I think one reason why you don't see sandwiches made up ahead of time is that most of the gluten-free bread I've tried needs to be toasted or at least microwaved a bit to warm it up to be edible. Otherwise it is just mushy or crumbly and doesn't make for a good sandwich.

Things we keep with us "just in case" are raw pumpkinseed bars and Boomi (nut and fruit) bar. Both are small enough to tuck into a purse or cooler and will make a meal substitute if need be. Another option is a can of refried or other beans and some corn tortillas or chips.

Cold/flu or gluten poisoning? Hello. I've had another similar episode. I find it very difficult to differentiate between the symptoms of a cold or flu and those caused by gluten poisoning. In fact, I don't know if my current worsening is due to having eaten something that disagreed with me or if the cold I have has caused my body, which is hypersensitive, to produce symptoms similar to those of gluten poisoning.

I'm no longer dealing with constipation. I got my liver test last month and it was in normal range. Two years ago I did have a vitamin D deficiency but I'm know taking vitamin D3 pills. Last month I got my vitamin D checked and it was in normal range. I don't believe I've had my choline checked. However, I do drink almond milk eat Greek yogurt on a daily basis.

Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS) can be associated with low ferritin and iron deficiency. Once Celiac Disease (1% of the population affected) has been ruled out by tests the next step is to check for Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (10% of the population affected) by eliminating gluten for a trial period, then re-introduce Gluten Challange. Have you been supplementing Iron? How are your liver enzymes? Low levels of ferritin indicate iron deficiency, while  59% transferrin saturation indicates high iron levels.  Possibly indicating Fatty Liver Disease.  Choline is crucial for liver health, and deficiency is a known trigger for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver.  Some experts say that less than 10% eat the the Food and Nutrition Board established Adequate Intake that are based on the prevention of liver damage. Severe constipation and hemorrhoids may be linked to a bile or choline deficiency.  "Ninety-five percent of phospholipids (PLs) in bile is secreted as phosphatidylcholine or lecithin."  Fatty acid composition of phospholipids in bile in man   Deficiency of these bile salts causes the bile to get thick. Some people with Celiac Disease are misdiagnosed with Gall Bladder bile issues.  Removal of the gallbladder provides only temporary relief. Whether or not celiac disease or NCGS are your issues you need to look at your vitamin D blood level.

      Thanks for your input.

If you have hemorrhoids 1x weekly I don't see how you have time to heal from one episode before you experience another one, unless each one is a very minor event. Have you consulted a physician about your hemorrhoid issue? It's not normal to be having an episode every week unless it is really one episode that is not completely healing between weekly flareups.
