Mini York Peppermint Patties

Does anyone know if these are gluten free. I read somewhere that peppermint patties were gluten free and didn't even think about the mini one's. I have a pretty bad gluttening the past few days and was wondering if these could be the culprit.

I also ate at Chipotle's and the reaction started about 24 hours later. I have been awake for two nights at least half the night. It is the holiday and weekend, so I can't contact them myself.

Thanks so much,

Monica

Hershey no longer claims to clearly list all gluten, BUT they must and will list wheat and they say any barley would be listed as malt. So you can still just read the ingredients to see if they're safe.

I consider Chipotle's to be safer than a number of places but they still do have flour tortillas so the risk of CC is always there. Did they put on new gloves before doing your order?

Thanks Richard, no they didn't use new gloves. I rarely eat out ever, but risked it. With all the flour tortillas, it does seem a bit risky. Other's here seem to do ok, so I always think it is just me. It will definitely be awhile before I eat there again.

I found that when I eat at Chipotle (which is about twice a month or more) that I can only order the burrito bowl WITHOUT cheese or anything that they would use their hands in. Even if they use new gloves, they haven't used new gloves before, so the cheese or whatever that's in the container is already contaminated. Since cutting out the cheese (and lettuce/onions, etc.), I haven't had a problem there.

monica,

Merry Christmas! I'm sorry that you are having a glutening...ugh :(

I haven't eaten yorks in awhile, but here was a point where I was living off them for my "sweet/cookie" type treat after going gluten free. They were safe at the time. I don't have any here to check.

one of my worse reactions ever was at a chipotle's....right before christmas, last year, as a matter of fact. I'm happy that others do so well there, but it is high on my list of no-no's (for me). so it might not be "just you."

hope that you recover quickly.

I just ate one of the Mini York Peppermint patties (in the tin) and had a gluten reaction within 20 minutes. The ingredients don't list gluten but do have "inverted egg whites" which could be the culprit...

Hershey will not disclose it's source for "Natural Flavors" in any of their products, and thus, will not consider these products to be gluten free.

So far, we have no had any problems with York peppermint patties. They're one of our (my boys' and my) favorite things. :P

As Momma Goose said, don't trust Hershey's just because the ingredients "look ok." But so far, the peppermint patties are ok for us.

*I meant to say the york "mints"

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
